But I'm going (as a steward) and I'll look out for you. Please try not to be inconspicuous so I can easily spot you in the crowd. It will be sunny this year because I have bought a new plastic mac with Chippenham in mind. My regards to your good lady as well. Malcolm |

Hope to see some of you there. Can someone book good weather for this year, please. A bientot Julian |

15 May 09 - 06:02 AM (#2632349) Subject: RE: Chippenham FF May 22-25 whos going? From: Mo the caller Yes we'll be there. Mr Red - that page wasn't 'Dance' that was 'Ceilidh'. (I enjoy a good ceilidh, but want to go to lots of the events they classify as 'dance', as well as some sessions and singing so I won't have the stamina for ceilidh, even if there was time to fit it in.) At my age I need my sleep you know. The website has the programme on it, but it stops at Monday teatime. Surely not, we've booked our B&B for Monday night so that we can stay to the end. |
15 May 09 - 06:50 AM (#2632373) Subject: RE: Chippenham FF May 22-25 whos going? From: Mr Red Note the singers sessions hosted by The Admiral are in the Black Horse. Mo Ah - never having danced Morris & to encompass barn dances I usually refer to ceilidhs etc collectively as "dance" - note to self - for keen ceilidhnauts never use generics. Julian And one to add to my list - Fest Deiz - if feet hold up I will be there. Maybe in the Barn at the Old Road Tavern, Sun. henryclem We may be on the same shift in comms - otherwise you will spot me anyway. |

15 May 09 - 09:38 AM (#2632531) Subject: RE: Chippenham FF May 22-25 whos going? From: Mo the caller Well, I dare say Morris is OK too if that's your thing but I will be doing 'proper dance'. The sort of dance that makes Chippenham different from so many other festivals. The stuff that's in the Studio Hall and the College and upstairs in the Town Hall. English (Playford style) and American (squares and contras). And maybe a bit of Irish Set dancing. Not that I'm 'having a go at' people who enjoy the other sorts. I've had a go at all sorts in my time. That's the beauty of Chippenham. There is something for everyone (music, song, display and dance). And there are enough experts there that you can join in at a higher level than at your usual club. And improve and learn something new. |

21 May 09 - 03:55 AM (#2637290) Subject: RE: Chippenham FF May 22-25 whos going? From: manitas_at_work The Black Horse is off-site on the road between the station and the town centre. There are lots of free events at Chippenham during the day and a few sessions in pubs in the evening. Try the Old Road Tavern or the New Inn (both close to the station and virtually next door to each other). Are there other evening sessions I don't know about? |

Unless there is something in the Rose & Crown (unlikely) all the evening sessions will be in the Old Road. Black Horse is between the River and the High St viaduct. And you can see it from both points. |

From: Herga Kitty It was so nice to be able to watch the dancing Saturday and yesterday without getting wet (sorry about this morning....) - and we managed to get to the Stick & Bucket competition this year too. Many thanks to the people who came to sing (and listen) in my Cause Hall song sessions on Saturday afternoon and yesterday. And a huge thank you to Bob, Gill and the rest of the Committee for putting it all together. As GRex says, roll on next year! Kitty |
26 May 09 - 05:05 AM (#2641026) Subject: RE: Chippenham FF May 22-25 whos going? From: henryclem Glorious to see the town centre, bathed in sunshine and packed all weekend with people enjoying the sights and sounds of the festival. This was a really happy one, with everyone free to enjoy themselves undistracted by the weather ... Lots of highlights for me - being caught up in some almighty choruses in the singing sessions (sorry I missed yours, Kitty - stewarding duties); also hearing old favourites and discovering new ones, every day of the festival. I'd say thanks to everybody who came and contributed to the spirit of the event. And of course Bob and Gill and the Committee - I hope all their efforts were fully rewarded by the success of this year's festival. Here's to next year! Henry |

Good weather, great singing, lots of energy (how do those dancers do it in the heat?) and even a few tears (Blissful Tom, you were responsible - THAT song always gets me). And the final concert - just a bit emotional to see Tom Tom's farewell. So glad I was able to be part of the weekend. Thanks Bob and Gill and all the organisers for making it possible. Looking forward to next year. Christine |
