You can find them printed in the CD insert.

Well, yeah, Michael, but then what would be the purpose of Mudcat?
We're fundamentally a lyrics site, you know.

I buy my music on MP3, and most times don't get CD inserts any more. I don't have room for CD's.

If nothing else, I'll download the MP3 tomorrow and do a transcription.

Ah yes, the mp3 thing, I forgot.

I was just encouraging Daniel to support Heidi's work by buying the CD.

Why don't YOU be a sweetie - and listen to the mp3 you purchased- and THEN post the lyrics HERE - for ALL of us to enjoy?

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

Everyone contributing a little makes the whole place work....but I smell TROLL in the responce.

OK, so I bought the MP3, and it's very hard to understand. I think the young lady needs diction lessons. I got the "I dream of you, far away from me" right, but I have no idea what's she's singing through most of the rest of the song.
She has a pretty-sounding voice, but I just can't understand her.
Oh, these young people......

Heidi is the lead singer of Cherish the Ladies, and part of the singing seems to be in Irish.

I Dream of You
(as sung by Heidi Talbot)

In the morning I listen, the waves beat the shore;
The gannet and curlew, [in their shout?] they call.
The mist rolls over and covers us all.

CHORUS
And I dream of you, far away from me,
To haul a line across the [merging] sea.
Across the [morning] sea.

And all long distance you're still in your way
The reef bank a fetch the grey seas.
The prison on water, and nights of cold grey.

CHORUS 2
And I dream of you, far away from me,
Let that southern sand teem
Where you used to lay me.
Where you used to lay me.

[instrumental break]

The tall, mean seas tumble, you pitch and you moan,
You keep your course steady through calm and through squall,
You cast your nets out for the great catch to haul.

CHORUS 3
And I dream of you, far away from me,
Full and wet the waves
Across the wide-necked sea
Across the wide-necked sea.

And will you come back and rest near to me?
So I can caress you, a grag yar mo chroi
I can dream easy, and sleep peacefully

CHORUS 1
And I dream of you, far away from me,
To haul a line across the [merging] sea.
Across the [morning] sea.

Her Website says the CD is sold out, so could you people who had the foresight to buy the CD, please post the lyrics?

OK, OK, OK... Joe, you've got a new record for mondegreens here! ;-)

I DREAM OF YOU (John Doyle)
(as sung by Heidi Talbot)

In the morning I listen, the waves beat the shore;
The gannet and curlew, in earshot they call.
The mist rolls over and covers us all.

CHORUS
And I dream of you, far away from me,
Tow haul and line across the murdering sea.
Across the murdering sea.

And o'er the long distance where you steer your way
Through reef bank and knolls to fish the great seas.
A prison on water, and icy cold grave.

CHORUS 2
And I dream of you, far away from me,
My bedside is empty
Where you used to lay
Where you used to lay.

[instrumental break]

The towering seas tumble, you pitch and you roll,
You keep your course steady through calm and through squall,
You cast your nets out for the great catch to haul.

CHORUS 3
And I dream of you, far away from me,
Rolling with the waves
Across the wine-dark sea
Across the wine-dark sea.

And will you come back and rest near to me?
So I can caress you, a gra geal mo chroi
I can dream easy, and sleep peacefully

CHORUS 1
And I dream of you, far away from me,
Tow haul and line across the murdering sea.
Across the murdering sea.

Aw, gee, Michael, do I really get the Mondegreen Prize?
Thanks a lot for posting the lyrics.

I have a couple of questions:
-I think it's "A prison on water, an icy cold grave."
-and I still think that the second time she says it, she says "where you used to lay me".....but I suppose she doesn't.

Well, the thing is... I've got the insert (and posted the lyrics as printed) but the CD is missing. You may well be right, but I'm not going to buy the mp3 to verify.

Cheers,
Michael
