I'm trying to find who wrote the song, or who performed it, or when it was popular in the US, if it is based on some other folk tune, etc. I have had no luck in researching it on the Internet. I have the words and music and have no other background-except that my words and music come from the 1840s! Do you know any of the answers to the above questions:) Thanks for your help! John |

11 Jul 99 - 11:30 PM (#94257) Subject: RE: widow malone From: Dick Wisan I don't know if this is apposite, but I have it on a 10-inch 78 in volume 2 of "Folk Songs and Ballads" by Susan Reed. It was issued by RCA as M1107. I got it in the middle 1940's, when it can't have been more than a few years old at. I wouldn't say it was exactly popular at the time, though. |
