Lyr Req: Colorado Girl (Townes Van Zandt)

I just heard Steve Earle on the Letterman show; he's come out with a CD called "Townes" - celebrating the songs of one of my favorite writers. He performed a mesmerizing tune, with the words (title?) repeating:
"Going Back To Denver"

Anyone know the song- words, chords? I couldn't find it on YouTube, I'd like to hear it again, so I can play it at an upcoming gig.

(ah yes I KNOW I could purchase the CD, but perhaps I could get it on line first )

Thanks.

The song is "Colorado Girl," and it's on a few of Townes's albums - "Live At the Old Quarter," Rear View Mirror" and the very early album just called "Townes Van Zandt." Each of those is worth owning, but ESPECIALLY Live At the Old Quarter - one of the best live albums ever made.

Here's the words:

COLORADO GIRL
by Townes Van Zandt

Well, I'm goin' out to Denver to see if I can't find
Well, I'm goin' out to Denver to see if I can't find
That lovin' Colorado girl of mine.

Well, the promise in her smile shames a mountain's tall.
Well, the promise in her smile shames a mountain's tall.
She can bring the sun to shinin', tell the rain to fall.

It's been a long time, Mama, since I heard you call my name.
Oh, been a long time since I heard you call my name.
I got to see my Colorado girl again.

Be there tomorrow; Mama don't you cry.
Be there tomorrow; Now, Mama don't you cry.
I got to kiss these lonesome Texas blues Goodbye.

Well, I'm goin' out to Denver to see if I can't find
Well, I'm goin' out to Denver; gonna see if I can't find
That lovin' Colorado girl of mine.
That lovin' Colorado girl of mine.

Amazon.com can sell you an mp3 of the original for a mere $99. Don't use my link, though - go through the Mudcat!

I never get tired of Townes. It's my late night music, along with Eric Satie.
