We were at the Traditional Folk Club in Exeter when they walked in. We thought that they were there on holiday, but we were wrong. This will probably be the last chance to see him in our neck of the woods for a long time. A truly outstanding singer with a prodigous repertoire,even if he did fool me by passing off a song as a Child Ballad. This is to be a platform performance venue for floor singers with a guest ('Hanlon's Half Hour) in each half. There will also be a guest MC. The session will be seasonal; 9 June, 8 September and 8 December 2015. £5 on the door to include a pint of brewery beer, a pasty and some great singing! He always by choice kept a low profile but could well have been a major performer on the circuit had he wished it I'm sure. The last time I saw him was at the funeral of a mutual friend a couple of years back - a valedictory occasion indeed. My condolences to Theresa. Steve will be remembered with great fondness around here and beyond... |

I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing and send deepest sympathies to Theresa, James, family and friends.
