Hey no one should be doing laundry on their birthday! I'll hold mine til next week.....but if the weather continues warm, up the starch to medium on the shirts so they'll hold up better through the afternoon.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

You all are GREAT....but guys, the birthday is July 20th...today is our planning day!! I understand Mick is on his way with his new clothes, and Catspaw's busy trying to cook the dessert. Sourdough has agreed to tell us a birthday story while we tune up the instruments...and...

Moonchild,

It is a saccharin song, but I will bring my old Martin and sing "We Always Cook with Honey" to celebrate your birthday tomorrow.

I'll bring graham crackers, marshmallows, and Hershey bars and we can make 'Smores (the real "Breakfast of Champions")in the microwave.

Don't let Catspaw near this process. He has a curious mind and will want to see how long you can nuke that marshmallow before it explodes. Unfortunately, if you allow him to do this he will find out. Then, like any good scientist he will perform confirmatory experiments to be witnessed by others.

I warn you, because he will not clean up his mess. You might not even be able to open the microwave's door.

I'm bringing Jello and Marshmallow Creme to the party. And wearing that nice brass bra and tutu the Big Mick loaned me for the occasion. Thought we'd get nekked, start a roaring fire, coat ourselves in marshmallow creme, roll around in the leaves and underbrush and look at each other through red Jello...

WHAAAAAT? It's a party, for heaven's sake.

Thank you for all the caring wishes. I've been pretty down lately, but between yesterday and today, I've let my humor out of the bag and really enjoyed posting on the Mudcat. How could anyone not laugh at the funny, bizarre humor, which is so evident here. Roger, I certainly hope you have perfected the s'mores thing before The Getaway in October! Actually, I like them nuked because the chocolate melts. But what I really, really love are almost burnt, runny marshmallows, toasted over an open fire, on the end of a hickory stick. My mouth is just a'waterin' thinking about it. I put away the laundry for my birthday, which is just as well, since salivating over toasted marshmallows is ugly on clean laundry.

I think we all needed to take a deep breath and destress by letting out our humor and silliness for a day or two. It's done wonders for me, and the Mudcat has provided me a wonderful venue for that very purpose.

Again, thank you, from ... moonchild, the hippiechick ... who is a radical,opinionated,socially-liberal,fiscally-conservative,comedic,backwoods-Birkenstock-babe ...

Ok, ok. We'll get nekked, roll in marshmallow creme, THEN in some chocolate sauce before the rollin-in-the-leaves bit. We can sing a few ditties then as Moonchild and her Steamin' S'Mores!

WW ... you are funny! I was listening to Designing Women today and someone said that the word "naked" has two meanings in the South. To say that someone was "naked" meant they had no clothes on. To say that someone was "nekked" meant they had no clothes on and were up to something. Too true ... moonchild

BTW ... I did make a wish ... on the North Star.

Nekked as a jaybird...

(I've never figured that out. What, precisely, is a jaybird, and why would s/he be nekked? But i do agree that when one is nekked in the South, one is generally up to no good.)

Wishing she were,

WW

Today is your birthday! Happy birthday to you!

May you be blessed with many more. My heart flutters to envision all of these Mudcatters in various states of dress and undress as well as various states of food coatings (marshmallow and chocolate sauce).

Fair warning! The music should come before the 'Smores. The marshmallow, melted chocolate, and graham cracker crumbs will gum up most instruments. Of course, it improves the sound (or lack thereof) of the banjo.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SLICK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Listen, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to make the party.......I had this dream, uh, premonition.......it was FREAKIN' NIGHTMARE was what it was...........Anyway I saw this image of RiB and I (seen through wobbling lime Jell-O) coated with marsmallow goo and assorted sauces and covered with rotting leaves, bark, and pine needles, and after eating some of Seed's Jell-O concoction......standing in your kitchen singing "Come Back to Us Barbara Lewis," accompanied by Mick wearing a metal mammaried tutu playing a possum whistle and Rick, nekkid and shivering, picking a tiple which implodes with 8 bars left to go in the song................oh gawd, I can't go on.......too hideous for words. If I can ever stop driving the porcelain bus, I'm going to see a local shrink. Maybe Cletus & Paw & the boys can make it......

Anyway ---- HAPPY BIRTHDAY

What are 'Smores, please. Are they by any chance graham crackers (our digestive biscuits) with marshmallows melted on them and chocolate over that? Yum. Or something even more mouthwateringly gooey?

Penny -- Yes, S'mores are graham crackers with a just-roasted marshmallow pressed between 'em and a square of chocolate, which melts with the heat of the marshmallow. Absolutely no getogether of the Girl Scouts was complete without S'mores.

I hate to admit it, but I make 'em sometimes in Mr. Microwave when I simply MUST sin and don't have time nor inclination to build a campfire...
