That would probably be a lot of fun. He does some good songs. On the other hand, what about all the dorks in the audience? I'm not sure I could put up with being surrounded by people wearing quasi-pirate gear and carrying parrots on their shoulders and swilling Maragaritas, and so on. I heard that there was a Jimmy Buffet concert down in Florida once where 100,000 parrots panicked when there was a power outage. The birds all started flying around chaotically in the arena and pooping on people. Thirteen fans died by smothering in guano, and thirty-four people got trampled by other people trying to recover their birds.

I'm not sure if I can take that sort of thing.

Well Buddy since my fathers cancer is going to take him any time now and we just put my mom in the home yesterday the only thing that seems to be bringing me comfort it sitting drunk with Bowie the dawg and listining to Jimmy Buffett on Satalite Radio.

Call me I realy need a friend now!!

Raptor, My father just passed away in May from Cancer and I think I know what you're going through. Take any comfort you can. He died at home in hospice care and I must admit, it was hard to go home sometimes. A lot of Jimmy Buffett's songs have more substance than is generally thought.

I don't know if I qualify as a true parrothead, but I sure enjoy Jimmy Buffett's music.

Maybe Little Hawk is being a bit hawkish. But, I parrot his comments.

I was living on the west coast of Florida when Buffet hit it big. You couldn't turn on the radio without hearing his music. I got burned out really fast. I'm just at the point now where I can listen to him in small doses. He's done really well for himself and spreads a lot of joy to a lot of people with his music. And that's a good thing.

I enjoyed his novel "Where is Joe Merchant?" - check it out.

One of the Tim Dorsey books has a hilarious scene in it where things go totally wacko at an outdoor Jimmy Buffet concert. Like I said above: 100,000 parrots panic and start flying around pooping on the audience and creating general confusion. It may have been in "Orange Crush" or it might have been one of the other books. Very funny stuff! I recommend reading Tim Dorsey crime/comedy novels about Florida to ease stress on those cold winter days.

Thanks SRS

After getting great seats for the show I spent the night at the hospital again counting my dads breaths.

Karen and I have been fans for a long time. What's pretty cool about this guy is the everyman quality he displays side-by-side with the artist. There's a lot to Jimmy outside the music but the music is pretty damn good! Personal favorite? "A Pirate Looks at Forty" said a lot to me 20 years ago and I was hoping for an updated look at 60...LOL
