Roy Bailey - Ringwood Folk Club Tuesday 6th Oct

Subject: Roy Bailey
From: SunrayFC

Ringwood Folk Club plays host to this man, and I am MC and support....doesn't get any better really.
Thread title changed. Please be careful to make thread titles specific.
    Thanks.

Gets better if you put the date and venue in the post, or better still, in the title.

WOW...this forum gets so adversarial at time for reasons i have yet to understand.

Most savvy people are more than able to surf and find details.

I can only assume Ross is unable to.

Seems a sensible approach to me, SunrayFC. I'd like to see your posters:

I just googled "ringwood folk club roy bailey". Tried the first two hits that included "sunray" in the URL. Neither of them listed a Roy Bailey gig. Come on, give us a hint.

As I've never heard of Ringwood before, I expect it's too far for me to go anyway.

Seems to me what Ross says is sensible advice.
I also recall concern expressed in previous threads(not re Roy Bailey)that just putting a name in the "subject" box tends to make people think that something(untoward)has happened to the person named.
Anyway I'm sure it will be a good evening!

Is that Ringwood near Melbourne, Aus?
My Aunty Emma lived in Ringwood.

Roy Bailey was due to be at Bideford Folk Club on Thur 8th October but I've just heard that his visit has been cancelled because of illness.

It doesn't yet mention this on Roy Bailey's website - nor does it (yet) say that he won't be appearing at Ringwood on Tuesday, but do check it out before travelling.

I'll keep you posted if Bideford arrange another date.

Little Robyn just beat me to it! Ringwood is in Hampshire, England and Bideford is in North Devon, also in England.

Nice club is Bideford - we popped in for a sing back in June and a fine time was by all.

I opened this thread fearing another great singer-wongwriter might be dead and gone. If I was Roy Bailey I think I'd play dead rather than risk a SunrayFC-style introduction.

Sunray Folk Club - we post gnomic messages then abuse people for pointing this out. Come ye all!

I just thought I was making a helpful suggestion - still no further info elicited from SunrayFC? And thanks, Capo, for putting down my other unexpressed thought.

Hi All, Roy Bailey is due to appear at Ringwood Folk Club on Tuesday 6th October.

As Sue says this is Ringwood in Hampshire. For more details and all the up coming bits and pieces here's a link to the club website Ringwood Folk Club ( If I've done it right)

Hope Roy is OK when I first saw the thread I dreaded something had happened to him.

It IS worth rembering that this is originally an AMERICAN site , and is now INTERNATIONAL , so it is helpful to state a Country , if not and exact location when plugging any gigs

Why "Thank you." Leadfingers so beautifully put.
As Aye,
Phil.
PS I don't think there's a Bideford Folk Club here in dear "Clogland."

I received a reminder from Chris Mason yesterday that Roy will be appearing at Ringwood folk club on Tuesday. And I'll be introducing him next year on 3 April at Haddenham (Bucks, UK) !

Peter - my reaction exactly! Well, I expected some really bad news at any rate. So I'd support Ross's suggestion, to put details of the gig (or whatever the occasion of the thread is) in the title when starting a thread on one of the elder and more revered members of the folk community and spare Mudcatters' nerves. Thanks in advance!

Hope it's a good night. Saw him with John Kirkpatrick at Shepley last year, freezing to death on stage (but singing well nevertheless).

Roy will also be performing next weekend at Banbury , but with Martin Carthy rather than Tony Benn, as Tony is convalescing after an operation.

Seems it's only Bideford that he's cancelled out on then. We've been told by his agent that he has a bad abscess (think it's a tooth abscess) and definitely won't be appearing on Thursday.

So, please don't head to the Joiner's Arms in Bideford, Devon on Thur 8th Oct expecting to see Roy Bailey - though you'd be very welcome at the singaround which will be on instead.
