Buy the CD - the artist lives from that money. The lyrics are in the liner notes.

Thread Name: Lyr Req: In the Dreamtime (Ralph McTell)

Subject: RE: You know this song?

I only know one song with that title and it was written by John Kirkpatrick:

In the Dreamtime
Oh, long ago, long ago, all in the Dreamtime,
The creatures of the earth all spoke the same tongue... Repeat
And the earth was filled with the glory of their voices,
The earth was filled with the glory of their song... Repeat
And the language of the land was the glory of the ground,
Was the song of the earth, was the singing all around... Repeat

Is this the one ?

Just did this song, by John Kirkpatrick, at a workshop at Celtic Connections:

IN THE DREAMTIME
(John Kirkpatrick)

Oh, long ago, long ago, all in the dreamtime
The creatures of the earth all spoke the same tongue (x2)
(And) the earth was filled with the glory of their voices
The earth was filled with the glory of their song (x2)
And the language of the land was the glory of the ground
Was the song of the earth, was the singing all around (x2)

And the air was filled
Filled with beating wings
And the song of the earth it was singing all around
And the water was clear
Filled with swimming things
And the song of the earth it was singing all around
And the ground was clean
Above and below
And the song of the earth it was singing all around

And the earth was filled with the glory of their voices
The earth was filled with the glory of their song (x2)
And the language of the land was the glory of the ground
Was the song of the earth, was the singing all around (x2)

And the year turned round
As the salmon came to spawn
As the birds began to nest, as the babies they were born

And the earth was filled with the glory of their voices
The earth was filled with the glory of their song (x2)
And the language of the land was the glory of the ground
Was the song of the earth, was the singing all around (x2)

But the song goes on
Above and below
If you open up and listen you can hear the music go

I gather the blank post above is a request for "Sing a Full Song (If Only the moon Could Cry), by John Kirkpatrick.

SING A FULL SONG (If Only the Moon Could Cry)
(John Kirkpatrick)

If only the moon could cry
If only the stars could mourn
If only their tears filled the sky
If they only could hold back the dawn

If the night were a night without end
If the day would not flourish so soon
Then our love would sing its full song
‘Til the end of the very last tune

Oh but I must ride with the sun
And the sun must ride as he please
And the wind which brought me to you
Must carry me over the seas

And the fire which forged love so pure
Will fire the brand of regret
For never such love should endure
But never such love can forget

For with you I should never want more
With you I should never need none
With you our love would be sure
When all other loving be done

And tonight we have seen the moon cry
And tonight we have heard the stars mourn
And tonight have our tears filled the sky
But they never can hold back the dawn.
