The CD and DVD of Stanley Robertson announced by the Elphinstone Institute, Univ. of Aberdeen, have appeared; I don't see a link yet on the Institute's homepage to order them, but since they've sent them to those who preordered, there will surely be a way for others to order.
Wonderful notes and pictures (Stanley piping, taping his great Aunt Maggie Stewart, holding a group spellbound, the oak tree 'Auld Cruvie' of the story)...Ian Russell and his colleagues who made them have done a beautiful job.

The CD (two, actually) 'The College Boy: Family gems and jewels from the Traveller Tradition' has 35 songs, notes include the words of the songs and transcriptions of Stanley's own introductions about who he learnt each song from, what it means, and more.

The DVD is called 'Stanley Robertson at the Blue Lamp.'

In its notes, Stanley wrote:
'Aa my ballads are my bairns and I love them aa dearly, equally. [Some] canna be left, or ye'll just neglect them and you'll lose them. And sometimes some o them'll ging awa somewey else....... You've to try and aye get foster mothers to them. And that's fit I dee fin I'm sharing them with folk.'

Thank you very much for this thread. I shall be saving up for the cds and dvd. If an Elphinstone Institute, Univ. of Aberdeen, ordering link does appear, perhaps you'd be kind enough to post it here.

Thank you.

We had a good night in honour of Stanley at the Elphinstone Institute last Thursday night, headed up by Stanley's son Tony, daughter Gabby, and other family members. It was a great audience, very responsive, with a good representation from the travelling community. The CD and DVD were on sale, but stupidly I'd left my money at home. Luckily I live about 3 miles from the institute, so I can drop in any time.

The likely link for getting the CD or DVD from the Elphinstone Institute is probably going to be
here where their other publications are listed.
