Dearest friends,

A Kit & Cutter Christmas with Martin Carthy @ The Deptford Arms, 12th December, 8pm

This is a brief one to announce our Christmas bonanza of a show that will not only feature your classic yuletide pleasures of mince pies, mistletoe, and Santa's raffle, but the Bono of folk, Mister Martin Carthy.

As always we will have a handpicked selection of guest acts to compliment the night, with details of which being announced over the coming weeks. But for now, to secure your space in The Deptford Arms, you can pre-buy your tickets here: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/64878

Love,

K&C. x

The Bono of folk??????? I am straining every sinew to think of a bigger insult but so far withour success.

Hope it's a great evening, and that the spirit of pompous, hectoring, humourless, egomaniacal Irish ''''''''''''''rock gods''''''''''''' is nowhere to be seen.

I heard Pete Seeger described as the Bono of folk the other day, which really miffed me.

We use that term in a satirical sense! Bono is NOT welcome at Kit & Cutter!

*CORRECTION* Martin Carthy - needs no introduction.

Kit & Cutter seems to be using this description on all the message boards he/she can find, oaf.

What a silly and inappropriate comparison.

Well, I read it as an attempt at friendly humor. I usually see Martin Carthy referred to in gushingly reverent terms that are enough to make me gag. I would imagine he wouldn't mind a bit of humor at times - although the Internet has the bad habit of repeating humor so often, that the humor loses its funniness in a matter of hours.

Seems quite sensible for a relatively new South London club (who incidentally like everyone else are doing this because of a love of the music) to promote what will probably be their biggest night hencefar, incidentally highly recommendable if you are within travelling distance, nice atmosphere, and a few minutes walk from Deptford Station (itself only about ten mins from London Bridge), well worth supporting.
Well I'll be there anyway If I can get in on the night.

Well I completely misunderstood BONO. I remember it as an expression used by Julian and his friend Sandy in Around the Horne.

Why does that always happen..as you press send the mist clears and you realise the truth. It was of course Bona not Bono. It would appear that Bono is some sort of "other music" star then.
Ho Hum...

folkandroots - thanks for the lovely words.

Note to self: must refrain from putting humour into promotional material. It's not funny and it doesn't translate. Silly and inappropriate in fact.

I think Martin will see the humor and at least you avoided using "the crown prince of folk" or indeed any mention of royalty.
