Any music on New Year's Eve?

Our normal folk club night, being last Thursday of the month falls on New Year's Eve. The landlady of the pub says we can run it as most of the villagers are down the Village Hall for a disco, and can go on until 1.00.

We will be at the White Horse Seagrave, Leics just off the A46 Fosse Way and quite easily reachable from the M1 in a matter of minutes. Quite a few clubs have cancelled that night or have TBC. Obviously a lot of people will have things on but there may be some who are left with no alternative to the telly.

Anyone welcome to sing or play!

Is anyone else doing anything on NYE?

If you're in Kent or East Sussex, come and see Jumbo Gumbo play some stomping zydeco at The Brecknock Arms, Bells Yew Green, near Tunbridge Wells on the Kent/Sussex border. No food, but excellent beer (Harvey's), and expect some good dancing!

Anyone on the North Shore of Massachusetts that night should check out New Year's Rockport Eve There's sea chanties, celtic, gospel, bluegrass, folk, reggae, jazz, classic hits, puppets, magic, etc.

I'll be with Sweat Loretta's Snake Oil Jug Band.

(posting from the road and too lazy to log in)

If it's not raining or too frigid, Sheryl and I will go down to First Night Alexandria. Otherwise, there are some folks (mostly gamers) in Gaithersburg who run a party, so we'll head over there.

Thought it about time to refresh this.

If you live in the Leicester area and are at a loose end on New Year's Eve (Thursday):-

Sing/Play in the New One at the WHITE HORSE, SEAGRAVE - just off the A46 Six Hills Road (Fosse Way) north of Leicester - 9.00 start with music/bar licence until 1.00.

The pub is doing food early evening but booking is necessary - ther may be still a few slots left.

BRING INSTRUMENTS AND VOICES OR JUST COME ALONG TO LISTEN!

If you can't get "out and about", Celtic Music Radio will be hosting a live Hogmanay Party with Gordon Hotchkiss and Liz Clark, plus guests. The party starts at 10pm, and will finish around 1.

Email 'Happy New Year' messages to:   studio@celticmusicradio.net or call 0141 548 4041 or text a message on: 07588 15 1530.

Before that, from 8pm-10pm, we will be broadcasting a Matt McGinn Tribute Concert - honest Glasgow humour, plus the best of heart rending wonderful music equals the life of well loved Glasgow genius.

This tribute features 'big' Jim McKenna and was recorded at the East Kilbride Arts Centre earlier in 2009.

I know it's a long shot that Alexis or anyone else involved with this will see this at this stage, but does anyone know if you can buy tickets on the door or if it is sold out? I can't seem to find any contact details for this event tonight. Cheers.

I'll be spending New Year's Eve in the company of a number of bagpipers, who will be decked out in their full regalia. We're going to a pub, and at midnight everybody marches out into the street to the sound of the pipes. Then fireworks are lit, and everybody returns and drinks a toast.
