And yet more good news! Well, for cricket lovers anyway. England have just beaten South Africa by an innings and 98 runs. Considering that S Africa started this year as the best team in the world, that's no mean feat. Well done England!!

Angel Dog Saves Stroke Victim's Life

December 30, 2009 by News Hound

If it hadn't been for her dear dog Milky Way, Priscilla Elit might not be alive to ring in the new year. Elit collapsed on the floor of the Minnesota home she shares with her sister, Julie Chipperfield. When she collapsed, Milky Way started frantically scratching on her "aunt's" door until she came out and called 911.

Animal shelter open house another success

December 29, 2009 by News Hound

It began last year as an idea to let the community celebrate Christmas by visiting the dogs and cats at the Animal Shelter of Pell City. And that successful open house drawing 250 people led to another one this year, drawing about 100 who braved a cold, wet day to get involved. The open house attracted kids who had their pictures made with Santa and the dogs, and it served as a time for taking donations of dog and cat food, cat litter and cleaning supplies. It was the community's chance to say "thank you"

From Australia:
Kids unhurt in spectacular motorway crash
By David Rogers

Two small children survived a spectacular car crash completely unhurt after a car they were in flipped over on the Inntal motorway (A12) in Tyrol early this morning.

Police said the car driven by a 32-year-old Vorarlberg man veered off the motorway near Radfeld, flipped over a number of times and came to rest on its wheels on the parallel gravel-covered secondary road.

The man and his 21-year-old wife were both hurt in the accident, and the car was a write off in the crash at 4:20am. But both children, whose ages police have not given out, were completely unhurt.

Hungarian pulls accident victim from burning car

By William Green
A 35-year-old Hungarian driver dragged a 27-year-old man from his burning car after they collided early this morning (Weds) in Styria.

Police said the Hungarian had been driving on the Ramsauer highway from Filzmoos, Salzburg, in the direction of Ramsau in Styria's Liezen district when he collided head-on with a car driven by a Styrian from Liezen district.

He was unhurt and ran from his car to drag the other driver out of his car as flames began to wrap around it.

The Styrian and a 27-year-old woman who had been a passenger in the Hungarian's car were taken to hospital.

Geldof unhurt after "full-on car crash"

Thursday, December 17 2009, 11:58am EST

By Daniel Kilkelly, Entertainment Reporter

Peaches Geldof has announced that she narrowly escaped serious injury after being caught up in a car crash in the US.

It is believed that the 20-year-old socialite was travelling to Disneyland in California with four friends yesterday when the driver's foot slipped on the pedal, causing the vehicle to spin out of control.

Geldof, who calls her friends the "I Don't Give A F**k crew", went on to recall her horror on Twitter, telling fans that she had been left unhurt after the incident.

She said: "Just actually experienced a full-on car crash with the IDGAF crew. Wow, I guess we really don't GAF (sic)."

The star continued: "Honestly can't believe were alive after that. And that the front of the car is totally f**king up and yet were still carrying on to Disney?!"

Geldof had informed her online followers 20 minutes earlier that the driver had been "speeding like I have never, ever witnessed before on the freeway".

Her spokesperson told Sky News: "She is fine. No-one was hurt or taken to hospital. After the accident, she and her friends carried on driving to Disneyland."

Great news concerning the England Cricket Team. Watched it all. Brilliantly, bombastically, supercalifisticallyfantabulositically super. Go boys go.

England football players have just realised how poor they are.

English cricketers on the other hand are now world beaters.
