But it's been going since Cecil Sharp was a lad. We've been starved of a decent local folk radio show in Devon for far too long. I'd give an honourable mention to Johnny Coppin's Folk Roots on Radio Gloucestershire, only an hour long, sadly, but good stuff. |

If you are away for a weekend then you will need a dep. Or spend one week doing nothing but putting programmes in the can for the weeks you aren't there. As Jim works weekends it occurs to me that that may be the reason. Let me stress - I don't actually know. |

Mark " I'm not sure whether Richard Digance is that replacement and they are waiting to confirm that or whether he is a stop gap while they find someone permanent. I thought Jim Causely was doing an excellent job - I liked his choice of music and the fact that he was interviewing local performers and promoting local music as much as possible, rather than the broader national (international?) line that Richard Digance is taking. I hope the programme soon gets back to its local roots. If you like a "traditional" bias, as well as Folkwaves on Radio Derby, try G. Tudor's programme on Radio Shropshire. |

There's an interview with him on the web that was recorded shortly before he disappeared from Radio Devon and he gives no inkling he won't continue. However the interviewer asks him how he feels about the mix of music and he said he'd like to play more of the tradition but was under pressure not to lose the audience so maybe he though screw it. The interview also said Mawkin Causely were splitting with different members going their own ways. Apologies if that's old news. |

Seriously, Summer is a comin in...etc.etc. It wouldn't surprise me if Jim is block booked every weekend (If no he damn well should be) And I know that pre-recording a 2 hour show is very time consuming...(Takes about 4 hours in reality). Not to mention the hours of listening, programming the order etc. Folkiedave will agree I'm sure! I'm sure that Jim couldn't commit to that sort of time outlay. Richard Digance obviously hasn't got any gigs! |

I arrange all my own interviewees too. Though to be fair that isn't too bad. I have basically stopped recording interviews because it took too long when editing. |
