17 Jan 10 - 07:16 AM (#2814134) Subject: Folklore: Looking for Alfie Woodall From: bushman I am originally from Southbourne in Bournemouth and was looking for someone I worked with as a glazier in Bournemouth in the late 60's and early 70's. His name was Alfie Woodall and he introduced me to the music of Bonzo Dog Band, whose music I am listening to even now. I live in Australia now and have done pretty well, but I have always regretted that I did not visit my friend in hospital after a serious car crash. Truth was I was terrified of hospitals, but never explained this to him. Even my wife has had to accept this when she was in hospital a few times. Anyway, wanted to let him know as although he may never have thought anything of it, it has been bugging me as he was a really good bloke and a great laugh. I saw his name mentioned on this website and thought someone might know him. |

17 Jan 10 - 09:20 AM (#2814192) Subject: RE: Folklore: Looking for Alfie Woodall From: RTim I have known "Alf" since the early 1970's when we were members with our then wives - Annie & Helen, of the Haywain Dancers of Cadnam and then founding members of Tyynham Morris of Christchurch, Hampshire. I was Helen's singer partner for a number of years. It wasn't until years later on a visit with Alf to his mothers that I discovered he real name was - John! When at school "Alf" was not very tall, and his nickname was "Elf" - and it sort of stuck!! The last time I saw him was last year at Ringwood Folk Club, and he has not changed one bit. You should be able to contact him via The Bourne River Morris web page, or at least get a contact address.
