They seem a bit difficult to track down, there's the one at the Beech and obviously I know about the one at Ye Olde Vic in Stockport.
Where are the others?
There must be some within driving distance!
Cheers

When I was there a couple of months ago there was a mainly Northumbrian session in the Peveril of the Peak. Tuesday nights if my memory serves me right.

hi Peter,

there is a mainly English/French session at the Ducie Arms behind the University, also on a Tuesday, but it's not every week. I think it's meant to be every fortnight but it can be a bit erratic. Good session though : )

The first-and-third-Wednesdays session in Mobberley is currently taking an enforced pause as it looks for a new home (The Bulls Head is turning into a restaurant): but if you're the Peter from Stockport I think you are, then I'm guessing you're on Linda's mailing list already!

And if you're NOT the Peter from Stockport I think you are, PM me and I'll send you Linda's email address!

This website : North West Folk seems to be rather more professional and up-to-date than the one mentioned above.

The Ducie on a Tuesday looks good, though last time I went it was full on Irish. Or the Peveril.
I'll get out and look next Tuesday.
Steve, yes it's me... I'm on Lynda's list but looking for another night out!
Trouble with sessions is that they do move about and change, and they don't make the websites all the time.

We tootle away as a Beginners Tunes Session on the last Tuesday of each month at The Beech. I think the Irish session is moving back to the Beech and it isn't entirly Irish.

I am currently trawling sites to put uptodate information on our Facebook site:

Songs and Tunes at The Beech

One problem is people put stuff onto sites but don't change it or take it down when they stop.

But if sessions exist we will track them down

Wholeheartedly agree with Les about out-of-date info on the internet. My pet hate is dates for events which fail to include the year!

Also!
The Mobberley Session has now moved to the Cross Keys in Knutsford.
It's the 1st and third Wednesday!
Ye Olde Vic in Stockport is the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays so that ties in nicely.

The session in The Harrington Arms in Gawsworth near Macclesfield is still going after 30 years every Friday, and that's largely English especially on the last Friday of the month when we play in a pure Irish session at The Castle in Macclesfield.

Tuesday will be the last one in February so we shall gather in The Beech and Begin some Tunes and a few songs! All welcome.

How about a night of the wild Morresco Dancing to welcome the Spring - some time in March I believe?

The Irish Session was at The Beech until it closed about 3 months ago. it then moved to The Horse and Jockey on Chorlton Green. The Beech re-opened last week but I don't know what The Irish Session will do.

We have been running a parallel mostly English Beginners Session on the last Tuesday and are keen to move back

Hi Chris, we are running a Singaround - mostly but not exclusivel traditional on first and third Wednesdays and a Beginners Tune Session on last Tuesdays as we have for a couple of years in The Beech.

Sometimes we have mixed sessions and tomorrow, Wednesday 21 July we have an acoustic Ceilidh at the Irish Club with all or some of the people who come to the Beginners Tune Session - it wont be too quick - free and all welcome.

We are hoping The Irish Session will return to The Beech on Mondays and help tp keep the pub going. But it's all a bit of a gamble isn't it?

Cross Keys is mainly tunes, mainly English - but I dare say that if you turned up and sang you'd receive a warm welcome, because mainly tunes mainly English is the prediliction of the regulars, rather than a set-in-stone rule ...

There's an excellent singers night at the Midway Stockport on Mondays of course! It's tune sessions that are difficult to find! Missed out on the Cross keys tonight but will be at Ye Olde Vic next Wed!! Did anyone make the Cross Keys? Say hello to Lynda!

Where else do people sing in Manchester? Apart from the Midway and the Beech (1st and 3rd Wednesdays), that is. (There's also Sale FC on Tuesdays and Chorlton FC on Thursdays, but you're likely to be the only traddie in the place at either of those.) Is Kieran's Tuesday singaround at the Crown still going? I haven't been down in yonks.
