Anthony John Clarke - New Song Book

Subject: Anthony John Clarke - New Song Book
From: Ian Hendrie

Anyone who wants the words, tunes, chords, etc. of any Anthony John Clarke's songs might wish to know about the publication of a new Song Book which contains fifty of his songs. Details on his brand new web-site.

Anthony John is launching this new Song Book with two concerts later this month. As the person responsible for selling the tickets to the second of these, I am exploring every avenue to ensure that all lovers of his music get an opportunity to attend and help create a magical atmosphere.

The first concert is on Friday, 26th February 2010, at the Fisher More Hall, Woolton Road, Liverpool L16 8NQ (with Special Guests jiva)
Contact details can be found on Anthony John's web-site. A donation will be made to Hope One World charity.

This concert will be repeated on Saturday, 27th February, at the North Cheshire Cruising Club, The Wharf, Buxton Road, High Lane, Stockport SK6 8AA. Though not a regular folk venue this old canal warehouse provides a warm and interesting venue and recently hosted a fantastic 'Kerfuffle' concert which can be seen on YouTube. That was a magical evening, so let's have another one! Full details are on AJC's website.

If it's any help at all, Ian, I would advise anyone that has never seen or heard Anthony John to get to see hm, buy the songbook and support him in any way possible. Those who have already seen him will need no encouragement!

Good luck

DeG

Just been listening to Afternoon in August on YouTube. A beautiful and emotional song. If it's in his song book I want a copy.

Was just watching the YouTube 'Afternoon in August'(great song) when a text came through from AJC reminding me he is at Redbourne Folk Club (Hollybush pub) tonight.

Anyone who is in the area, do yourselves a favour and come along. A lovely man and great song writer - not to be missed.

A timely reminder that you can hear the songbook live this coming Sunday at Bothy World HQ in Southport. That's the Bothy Folksong Club, Park Golf Club, PR9 0JS. 8PM start and the final night of the current season.
After that it's straight to bed after a cold supper and two week's summer season in the Orkneys for the lad. Stone me - what a writer!

Your Man just gets better and better...

Saw him again at a fund raiser on Friday in Penwortham, Preston (along with Elizabeth Van De Waal doing backing and vocals) and Ken Kershaw supporting.

Is there anyone who can work an audience better? Within three sentences he had the audience laughing and within three verses of his first song people were joining in words (many of whom had not seen Anthony before)

Well, I've fell out with Elizabeth because she won the Meerkat I wanted in the raffle ;-)

But to get back on topic... I did finally buy the Songbook "An Acquaintance" and it's worth every penny just as the ticket price always is. If you want "more bang for your buck" then go see AJC if you have not already. Here is his gig list for this year. If he is near you he really is well worth going to see. He never stops for a moment and his cahtter is as good as his songs.

So, okay, I'm biased... but so what? lol
