Crediton Festival 16-18 April 2010 (UK)

They're doing it again - no, not in Crediton, it's in Cheriton Fitzpaine, website here!

Unfortunately we won't be able to go this year, but Pete & John are still keen to have a Mudgather if anyone else is willing to host it? It could be programmed for Sunday morning, it worked quite well at that time last year really. They'd need to know within the next week or so in order to sort the program out, if anyone feels they can help out please PM me with your phone number and I'll pass on the offer.

Know you'll all have a Fab time anyway, this is a lovely little festival!

I'd like to go to this and could run the sing if you need me to, but I'll gladly stand back if someone else wants to run it. All depends on the mini-camper doctor. It's due in to the garage tomorrow.

Thanks for your birthday card, Hils.

Thanks for that Ned, thought I'd done it *sigh*

Thanks Rhiannon (and you're welcome!!) but as it would be a programmed event we would need a very definite offer (good luck with the camper doctor), so let's see if anyone else can help out first. If we can't get a definite then something else would be programmed in, probably a Sing.

Dave and I will be there but Pete and John have not let us know what spots they are wanting us to do yet so we would rather be in the position of supporting the sing than running it but could do so if push came to shove

Hi Hils

Well the camper is in with the mechanic. He didn't seem to think there would be any problems so I'll say a defnite yes please.

If it can't be done then I'll just spring for a B&B.

So, put us both down for it please.

Dear Mudgather people

I was talking to John last night and so far nobody has contacted him to voluteer their services to run the Mudgather. If anybody is definitely going to do this could they ring him in the very near future. It will be programed event at 12 noon on Sunday until 2pm ish. There is a fall back position but a volunteer would be first option.
Please remember tickets are available but camping is limited in this exeptional little village, now's the time to get organised if your going.

Looks like Mick & Rhiannon (they did offer first Roger) will be looking after the Mudgather on the Sunday. Thankfully their Campervan has now been fixed, so I've let John know and he'll get in touch with them. (That OK Terry?)

Subject: RE: Crediton Festival 16-18 April 2010 (UK)

Bijou because it's a small venue - the skittle alley of the Ring O'Bells - and accommodates the real ale bar (poured from tapped barrels rather than pumped) as well as the concert...

The artists performing in the bijou folk concert this year, in addition to Kitty Vernon and Derek Burgess, will be Bill McKinnon, Parker & Watts, Nicola Clark, Hanging Johnny, Gallimaufry, Ramblin Minor and Gilly Kemp - not necessarily in that order.

I visited for the day on Saturday for the first time. What a lovely little village, and a beautiful day.

It's soooo Devon!

A lovely simple inexpensive festival, with the feeling of the village joining in with food and drink; not only in the pubs but in the Methodist church and the C of E church too. Both pubs had lots going on as well as concerts in both churches. This is a perfect weekend and so far as I could see, running with very few problems and no one complaining to me about anything. Oh someone did mention that the camp sites were full, but that's not a bad thing, it shows the little inexpensive festival is a winner.

We need more festivals like this, small, inexpensive and uncommercialised. So come on folk family (cos that's what we are) if you have a large back garden or a couple of fields, let's go for it. Back to our folk tradition roots.

Well done Pete and John, Long may you reign.
Looking forward to bringing Loxley next year.

xx Sal

Sal - what made it so special for me this year is that it didn't rain! Cheriton Fitzpaine was quite transformed by sunshine and the dancers didn't have to run for cover.

Thanks for the Facebook picture you posted of the concert we sang in at St Matthew's church - it's such a privilege to sing in a venue with such wonderful acoustics that we didn't mind that the sunny weather (and the competition from the Dave Sealey concert) meant that the audience numbered about a dozen at any one time!

Three cheers to Pete and John for putting on another great little festival, and big thanks to Dame Pattie EPNS and Splottie for agreeing to perform in the bijou folk concert at short notice on their night off, and delivering a cracking set! In fact, thanks to all the performers at the bijou concert for a tremendously enjoyable evening. And to all those who contributed to the singaround Derek ran last night after the concert in the Ring of Bells skittle alley.
