Kenric is a fiddler, and is interested in finding sessions or places to listen to traditional singing and playing. Both of us just attended a Welsh music class recently, and he's eager to learn more. I'm not entirely sure where he's traveling, but he may be willing to put on some miles to find the music. |

From: Splott Man You need to get hold of a Taplas magazine which has a comprehensive guide to sessions, clubs and events throughout Wales and the Marches. Folkwales covers a lot of events and Casbar is a good site for south Wales events. |

Re: any sessions listed, if there is a phone number it is a good idea to check ahead. Situations change, and sometimes with very little warning. Also, when he has his itinerary settled, let us know. There are sessions around which keep their collective head below the legal parapets. Just out of curiousity, where did you attend the class? sian |

A lot of Welsh tunes played there. - There's a Welsh session pretty much every Monday at the Cayo Arms in Cardiff - pretty much all Welsh tunes and a few songs. - We have a Welsh session on the second Friday of the month in Ty Tawe in Swansea - all Welsh tunes, and some songs. A lot of songs last Friday, 'twas a good night :-)There are also occasional, fairly impromptu short-notice sessions around the Swansea area now and again. - There's a session at the Mount in Llanidloes on Thursday nights, which can have a fair bit of Welsh stuff in it. Met a GREAT Welsh fiddler there named Steve. His session mate named Alexander (flute, accordian...that he referred to as 'The Terminator')informed me the aforementioned gentleman was one of the foremost authorities on Welsh traditional music. Another one Monday nights at the Malt Loaf in Conwy. All types of music there from singer-songwriter to trad instrumental. Also, the Cambrian Folk Society holds one on Tuesday nights at the Cambrian Hotel in Aberystwyth. This is info from a few years back. Things may have changed, obviously. |
