Great stuff! I think that there is a previous thread on Mudcat where the captain gives some insight into how and why this video was made. In any case it's great to see this preserved!

Oh dear! I don't own that product, so although I am not selling it, I don't know if there are legal ramifications. The company that owns it wanted to sell it to me for $50.00 and I refused.

I've always been a bit self conscious about the Maine accent in singing, but it is very useful in storytelling. Ayuh, sure is Chummy.
By Jove Dan, you've done it again! Thanks so much.

Here's one from my old pal, Marshall Dodge.

I was fishing for trout on the bank of the Machias river a long time ago, and the strangest thing happened. I hooked and landed a good size trout and left it laying on the bank. A couple of hours later I decided to leave because that was the only fish I had.
When I reached out to pick it up, it snapped at me! I tried two or three times to pick it up and it growled and tried to bite me. Well, I ended up pouring some water on its head and hoped it would somehow flop around and get back into the river.
I packed my gear and headed for the camp. hadn't gone far when I heard a kind of a rustling sound behind me. I looked around and there was that fish following me!

When I got to the camp, about a mile from the river, it was still behind me. That night I made it a bed by the stoves and poured water on the bedding so's it wouldn't dry out.
Next day I went to chop some wood and there was that fish following me around like a dog. Everywhere I went it flopped along behind me. I fed it corn meal and earthworms for about 6 months.

Finally, I decided to go fishing again, and sure enough there was that little fella trailing along behind me. I crossed over this rustic bridge to gain the other side and I noticed that one of the planks was missing and there was a foot wide gap in the bridge.
I didn't think anything of it until I heard the splash. That poor little fella fell through that gap.................

and drownded.

I was digging clams in Dougall flats when suddenly I heard a low humming sound. I was able to trace it to a particular spot, and when I turned the mud over it got louder. Turned out to be a clam humming. I kept digging in the same area and turned up another dozen humming clams. Well, I took them home and made a bed for them out of the mud I found them in, and I worked with them for about 6 months. When they happened to hum on key and in harmony, I fed them a bit of corn meal. After long hours of this I got them to sing "Home of the Brave".

Word spread and I took them on tour all over the country. made a lot of money with them too. Then, I made a terrible mistake. I booked a European tour, and I boarded the Queen Mary bound for England. They even had their own stateroom so great was their fame, but, alas, we had just barely cleared Nantucket shoals when every one of them clams, up, took seasick
And died. (Marshall Dodge of "Bert & I"

I was fishing in Sibley bog one day and having no luck. It was hot and I was down to my last worm. He had been in the sun all day and didn't look too spry. Didn't have no sprawl to him.
So, I dipped him in my bait can with some apple jack that I brought along for snake bite, sowzelled him around some and put him on my hook. Damned if he didn't snap at me!Threw him overboard and that hook had hardly struck the water when I felt a strong pull on the line. I hauled it in and there was that worm with a good size trout. He had that fish in a half nelson around its gill area and a clove hitch around the hook!
Well, I gave him a little more Apple jack and sent him down again.
You know, if that little fella hadn't passed out on the 23rd fish, there wouldn't have been a trout left in Sibley bog!

Told by my old pal, Steve Merrill

There were two brothers who had a pig farm. Bout once a week they would hear squealing and the next morning they would be a pig shy.
Amos decided he'd had enough so he took to sitting in the upstairs window with his 44:40 at his side. Before he went to bed he had hung a lanturn on the post at the gate of the pen, and he vowed that the thief was going to have his last day.

Well, he sat there night after night and about 4 nights later he was dozing off when he heard the pigs squealing. He awoke to see a big black bear coming out of the pen with a shoat under one arm and holding the lanturn with her other paw!
He drew a bead right on that little white spot on her brisket and just as he was about to fire, that damned bear blew out the light!
