The link is to Mark Kermode's 10 minute rant on "Sex and the City -2"

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that this sort of thing is complete drivel!

Who cares? If there is a market for drivel, people will serve that market. It's not if anyone is making us go watch it.

Here is the review in The Stranger, that he mentioned in the clip.

I had no idea what the width & breadth of drivel could be until I got cable TV and stayed up late. The 'reality' shows are scraping the bottom of the barrel. Shows about the 'tensions' in baking strange cakes...and about people who drive too fast....and about those whose cars get booted and how tedious it is to pay the fine.

Yeah, Sex in the City is near the bottom...but I'm sure ideas are brewing to sink lower.

Ha! Ha! Ha! ;-D

I've never seen that damn show, and no doubt never will, but I sure enjoyed the review.

That's the point about Mark Kermode reviews - you don't have to go to the cinema!

I heard some woman on the radio the other day, say that all the girls in the movie had collar bones, like coat hangers.
I know what she means, even though I'll never see the movie.

It's definitely among the 98% of films released yearly that I give a moment's consideration as to whether I should see or not, and then I say, "Not that one." Matter of fact, it's in the bottom 25% of that 98%.

Collar bones like coat hangers expresses it very well. And they've got "big hair" too, right?

"And they've got "big hair" too, right? " No, they don't. These are not the 1980s, LH.

Okay, but it's loooong hair, right? "Big" was probably not the right word to use in this case.

I'm guessing they wear really high heels too.

How about streaked hair? That seems to be popular lately.

We quit cable about 4 years ago. And here in Peru, Illinois, cable is the only way we can receive television.

Sooooo, we pay $17.00 a month to Netflix!! We can order a million films or documentaries or TV shows---whatever. Watch it---send it back---and have another film sent off to us the next day!

Folks, just get what you really want to see!!

And that $17.00 a month is all we pay for 3-at-a-time DVDs...

I'm a shut-in now, and this is simply a perfect arrangement.

"streaked" hair, today I think is called 'highlighted'. The idea behind highlighting is that in nature hair color is not all one shade; highlighting of 'colored' hair is meant to mirror that. Remember Liz Taylor? No highlighting there!

I don't remember their feet - I haven't seen the show much - but they, after all, do live in NYC and are hip, fashionable, upwardly mobile young women so I would guess they wore high heels, at least in public. (Oh, I do remember bare legs and sandals.)

No cable? No CNN? No Idols, American or otherwise?
How can you survive?

Easily without them, but our phone, internet and email are cable too. We also get some 20 music channels, without advs. Three NPR stations and BBC News are good, but, true, there are some 100 channels of junk.
The cable network also deals with viruses, etc. and does a good job.
