Well done Cap'n - I suppose it's Saturday night / weekend ( at the moment in UK )so catters are not at their PC's , speaking of which I think I had better get my drinking boots on!!!

Cheers Betsy

The Badger is coming but I am not accompanying him. He's got the whole weekend to play out without having to worry about me not being able to walk around up and down hills or falling down.

I'll make up for it by wandering Whitby the following week (with him)

Big hugs though Pete.

Cheers Tig , hope you don't need to walk up and around inclines in Whitby - my wanderings in Whitby tend to be up and down.

Take care then

Betsy .

You'll have Moira (flyingcat) Craig, apparently, because that's her alibi for not being at the White Horse Folk Festival at Grove!

Have a great time - and hope to see most of you in Whitby!

There's 3 x £100 Prize competitions apart from all the usual craic.
1. The Fred Jordan Memorial competion - for best rendition of a Traditional song.
2.The songwriting competition -obvious
3.The Stan Gee "Pick and strum" Trophy .

All good reason to give 'em a "Go" - someone's got to win   !!!!!

Good luck and lets hope this weather pulls itself round .

Cheers
Betsy

About 3. :
I think it is worthwhile mentioning that after many years of vocal contests only, Stan has made it possible for the instrumentalists to step into the lime light.
Maybe a small step in general, but a huge leap for Saltburn Folk Festival!

Anyway, it was great fun, playing the winning piece again on the Saturday night in the Emmanuel Church hall.
The audience reactions proved my feeling that there is a place for complex instrumental folk music on a festival like Saltburn.

We (Heartstrings) plan to apply to be part of next year's americana section.
(we'll do a lot of vocal material as well, of course ;-) )
