Theresa Tooley CD released

Subject: Theresa Tooley CD released
From: nutty

Friends of Theresa have put together a CD of her singing. The tracks were all recorded by Tom and Barbara Brown at Whittlebury Song and Ale gatherings between 1991 and 2003. So you get not only Theresa's fabulous singing but the amazing Whittlebury choruses.

The CD has been produced in support of Motor Neuron Disease Association (a disease that first robbed Theresa of her wonderful voice and then slowly took away all other faculties except for her brain).

Originally launched at Saddleworth FF last month, the CD immediately sold out, so this has caused an unexpected delay in distribution.

The CD'S will now be available through Ann Clancy and Alan Cox at Whitby FF next week.

As Ann is treasurer of the festival, I am presuming that they will be on sale at festival office.

Anyone who will not be at Whitby, but is wanting a CD, can PM me with their name and address and I will pass this on.

How do we arrange a supply of them for the Getaway? Or at least get me one so I can show it and take orders.
I miss Theresa.

SINSULL - Dick, Susan and Max will be at Whitby Folk Festival, so it may be possible to sort something out through them. Susan and Dick are already over here somewhere, possibly Sheffield by now? so it may be possible to contact them via othet Mudcatters before Whitby.
Quack!

Sad how you lose touch with people. I knew Theresa very well from her days at Leigh Folk Club at the Oddfellows and have performed live with her on many an occasion. A great performer with a real enthusiasm for traditional music, and a warm and generous person whose front door in Tyldesley was always open to anyone. I moved away from Lancashire many years ago and hadn't heard of her illness. She's a great loss to the folk scene and to the world in general. I'll certainly be acquiring a CD.

I'd be sure to buy a CD if it were available at the Getaway. Please make sure that somebody in charge contacts Dick Greenhaus when he's at Whitby Folk Week. Oftentimes, Dick works out a deal to duplicate CDs in the US and eliminate shipping costs.

Dear All, Good to know you all think the CD a good idea. Joe and Mo will have them at their singaround at Whitby all week. Just leave your details with them if you want to sell them at your event and we will get back to you. Ann

I have been in touch with Ann Clancy and she is going to supply some for us to sell at The Singaround at the Rifle Club.
They are on sale for what I think is the ridiculously low price of £8 Mo and I bought ours at Sadleworth and played it in the car on the way home and I can tell you it is absolutely splendid. The spirit of Theresa shines through like a beacon and great work by Tom, Barbara and Ken Hall.
You don't have to come to the singaround just pop-in (between songs)and we will be glad to sell you one or two if you like.

Joe Nicholson.

It will be as close as I can get to the road trip I made to Scotland with Theresa, Bill and Colin, all of us singing all the way. . . . *sniff*
Arrangements have been made for Dick to take a copy back with him to distribute over the pond.

I picked up my excellent Theresa CD this weekend. Superb stuff on it!
Glad it was made - she would have been proud of it and happy to raise money for Motor Neuron's.

I was also lucky enough to discover another gem - Stanley Accrington's latest CD "In Administration" has a recording of the song he wrote for ColK.

For those whose breath has been bated....I now have it in stock. I'll bring a bunch to the Getaway. If anyone wants one before then, call me at 800/548-FOLK. I'm charging $15 (+postage if they're to be mailed) with all proceeds going to Motor Neuron Disease Association.

It's not only a nice memorial to Theresa, but it's got some damn fine singing on it! $15 at CAMSCO.

I bought one and SINS and I listened on the way home from the Getaway. I'd forgotten how GOOD Theresa was. Most singers, I remember the voice and songs first, and THEN the personality. With Theresa, it's the other way around. I'm sure I'm not the only person she had that effect on, and her friends, in particular, likely remember that strong little woman, the warmth and humor shining out, before anything else.

I'm really happy I got this CD.

I also bought one at Getaway and had a good time listening to it on the way home. She is sorely missed but this is one way to keep the songs she loved going.
