23 Aug 99 - 01:59 PM (#107740) Subject: Mornin' Blues (I woke up early with - ) From: JedMarum John Sebastian did a record some years ago with a group of folks, and it had a lot of new tunes. The record was done 'compilation style' with various writers and players contributing to the mix. There was a great song on this record, about a hangover, it started out soemthing like, " I woke up early with the mornin' blues, I had an ache in my head that I wished I'd used ..." Does his song ring a bell with anyone?? I have searched for it, but cannot remember who wrote it, who else was on the album, or any of the iportant search criteria. Also - the record had another great song ... I remember a great line, "somebody said it was only, swingin' the world by the tail, skippin' over the white clouds, killin' the blues .." Anyone remember this one? Lyrics? Who wrote it? Where can i find the recording? |

Been in business and I been in love.
CHO: I got the mourning blues, oh, so bad!
Ashes to ashes and it’s dust to dust,
There ain't no use of me a-working so hard,
She brings me chicken and she brings me cake.

23 Sep 20 - 11:23 PM (#4072951) Subject: ADD: Killing the Blues From: Joe Offer These lyrics are a little more complete. KILLING THE BLUES Leaves were falling, just like embers In colors red and gold they set us on fire Burning just like a moonbeam in our eyes Somebody said they saw me Swinging the world by the tail Bouncing over a white cloud Killing the blues Now I'm guilty of something I hope you never do because there is nothing Sadder than losing, yourself in love Somebody said they saw me Swinging the world by the tail Bouncing over a white cloud Killing the blues Now you ask me, just to leave you To go out on my own And get what I need to You want me to find what I've already had Somebody said they saw me Swinging the world by the tail Bouncing over a white cloud Killing the blues Somebody said they saw me Swinging the world by the tail Bouncing over a white cloud Killing the blues Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Salley Rowland Jon |
