28 Sep 10 - 10:26 AM (#2995207) Subject: Old Woolie From: GUEST The song Old Woolie is recorded on Priscilla Herdman's The Water Lily, 1976. (subsequently re-released on CD (I don't know when)). The song is listed as "Old Wooley" not "Old Woolie". It was written by Don Lange, and copywritten by Barking Spider BMI. Album notes: "Don Lange was performing one night in 1971 in a place called "The Mill" in Iowa City, Iowa, when an old fellow asked if he could play a couple of tunes. The song Old Wooley grew from the events that followed that evening. "The Mill" was a place I frequented back in the late sixties." |

28 Sep 10 - 12:24 PM (#2995297) Subject: RE: Old Woolie From: Jim Dixon Our guest is apparently commenting on the lyrics in our database, where the song is called OLD WOOLIE, and has no attribution. According to Allmusic.com, Priscilla Herdman did indeed record OLD WOOLEY, but it was on her album "The Priscilla" (1977). They attribute it to Don Lange. It also says Lesley Schatz recorded OLD WOOLEY on her album "Walls, Hearts & Heroes" (Bear Family Records, 1992), but it has no sample nor songwriter credit, so I can't confirm it's the same song. |
