Hey folkies, I've been in contact with Duncan and he would like to come to Maine in February. He would also like to meet some of his Dads friends on the way. He is in California at present.
Suggestions please.

Well, for one thing any one going to Maine ON PURPOSE in FEB. is crazy!

He is Utah Phillips' son, so he must be hearty enough for your winter!!

What form of travel is he planning? Is he a musician? Will he be performing along the way? Perhaps he can find a list of venues
that Utah played at when he went on cross country tours.

He might be able to make it to Salt Lake City on the first day
(it is posible to get there in one day from here in northern calif.)

then he should plan to stop by Rosalie Sorrells in Idaho....

and where ever other Rose Tattoo folks hang their hats....

Ani Di Franco may be in the Buffalo New York area and could be a
good resource...as she appreciated Utah very much.

Anyone who hosted a benefit for Utah or a memorial might like to
give Duncan a helping hand, a stop-over, organize a performance
or house concert , etc.

Bob & Diana Suckiel are in Kansas city, i think--but Duncan knows that
(and he Has a rose tatoo as well.)

good luck and happy trails...and don't forget your long johns...and
red clown nose...

At this point it is just a thought. Don't know if it will happen or not. Lots of things to pull together.

Howdy folks, Over the past year I have been working on a regional tribute CD for my dad here in Salt Lake City. My friend Kate MacLeod is producing it and it will be finished in January. A few of us are going to do some CD release gigs in California in January and early Feb. I'll return home to SLC in early Feb. and hopefully head out to Kendall's.
I am up for anything along the way. My time frame is from Feb. 12 through the end of the month. Most likely it will just be myself unless some small house concerts or small gigs open up then I'll bring someone with me. Mainly I just want to meet folks and share our tribute cd with them. There are so many folks that I heard dad talk about and know of me but have never had the chance to meet. Check out what I've been up to at www.thelongmemory.com and I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks
Duncan Phillips

House concert in Maine a definite. Jacqui and Kendall will organize. Wonder if One Longfellow Square might be interested or Blue?
Warm bed and a hot meal here - you will need it. LOL

Duncan, I organized the two Michigan fundraising concerts (The Ark and Wealthy Theater), and I would love to meet you. In fact I am in the initial stages of planning a benefit for Anne Feeney in February and if we work it right you could perform at it

This sounds like this is beginning to materialize...great!
I would recommend Kuddie and Mark Ross and Dan Schatz...all
have been involved with Utah. And I can attest to the fact that Big Mick is very successful at fund raising--he is a generous guy!!

Best of luck to all involved--and glad to hear that your memorial tribute c.d. is ready to bring to the people!!

I hope some of you are in contact with Duncan. He will need accommodations to get from AZ to ME.

As a start I will set a target date to arrive in Maine of February 19.
Going out I'm thinking 2/14 Denver, 2/15 Des Moines, 2/16 Chicago, 2/17 Cleveland, 2/18 Albany and 2/19 Maine. Coming home - Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Chicago,
Kansas City, Denver and home (SLC) Of course this is not set in stone. It depends on what opens up and where but it's a starting point.
As a side note. I can handle the winter and I can drive forever.

Hi Kendall. maybe we should re post this as Bruce "Utah" Phillips tribute CD release or something. Most folks may not know me or what I'm doing. Just a thought, let me know what you think.
