MudGather Bedworth UK Fest 27 Nov 2010

Though it doesn't appear yet on the Bedworth Folk Festival Website I could almost guarantee that the MudGather will be on the Saturday at around Tea-time, quite probably in the Black Bank Pub!!!

I'm collecting odd prizes for the traditional MudRaffle and I'm hoping others will be too *grin* There is likely to be lots of hugging, chocolate, songs and laughter.

So, who's going to Bedworth this year, form an orderly (or disorderly) queue.....

We're on the guest list, so we're going (and think we may be running a singaround or two, possibly in the Black Bank)- but until the programme's online we won't know where we might be Saturday teatime!

Oooooh I wish - but don't think that'll work!

Why do all the good festivals clash with family /work celebrations? My son's engagement party, Family business anniversary and almost definitely son's wedding date! Mustn't grumble too much tho'. I'll be singing over Valentines w'end, Easter, the May bank holiday...(s) and who knows when and where else.
Hope to catch up soon. Sing one for me Hilary!!

Really hope you can come Linda (so sorry you can't Hazel), and yes it's the same pub.

Mind you, I haven't had any 'official' notification yet & like everyone else I'm still waiting on the programme. But I'm assuming that Malc won't schedule me to sing somewhere else while I'm hosting the MudGather *grin*

Looks like there'll be lots of good friends there, programme permitting! I am SO looking forward to this!

Roger Dear, haven't you managed to find a good home for that broken Mando yet? White elephant raffle prizes don't come with a guarantee, but I was surprised. Anyone interested, PM bubblyrat....

Ditto me, Hils - I'll be there unless I've been programmed elsewhere. Wouldn't miss the Mudgather for anything else...!

Looking forward to seeing the schedule soon, and hope I've got a spot this year, cos I keep getting asked when I'm on and I don't want to disappoint!!!

Only two weeks to go..

Cheers,

Just so you know here is a link to the met office, and we know they always get it purrrrrfectly right!

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/wm/nuneaton_forecast_weather.html

Rugby Club caravan campervan parking is now full - still space at Brose (Fri/Sat Nights Only) can be booked on the web site, please don't turn up on spec as you will need a permit to gain access.

Fancy something a bit different friday night - The Men in Black (I wonder who the bass player is!), Rock'n'roll Party at the Rugby Club 9 till the late session starts or OSJB in concert (The Original Steamchicken Jazzband) in the Upstairs of the Civic Hall, Concerts and Singarounds too, needless to say - maybe we'll even manage a bit of snow to get you into the Christmas spirit!

Looking forward to seeing you all.

Malc.

Yes, Noreen, we did have snow.

It didn't bring down the spirits of Bedduthites though.

Thanks to Malc, Gill, all the Mudelfs and Hils. The best Bedduth to date. Bouquets to all of you.

A brickbat to a certain offical though!

Yes we did have snow, Noreen, as you found when you arrived... and Acorn4, I thought -9C last night was a bit colder than usual!

Thanks to everyone, and especially Malc, Gill and their team, for another cracking Bedworth weekend and Hils for the Mudgather. Oh, and the Rugby Club for the hot breakfast, even though we arrived after 10.30!

We left Brose at about 1345 for the trip home ; sink & wash-basin drains frozen up & blocked --- Loo water-flush frozen solid ---Waste water container full of ice--luckily,we were able to maintain the water level in the hot water system until this morning, when we successfully drained it down (expensive to repair if the cylinder bursts !); -9 C is definitely too cold for caravanning !!
And we had a lovely time and yes,we are together again !!

Yes it was a great weekend in spite of the sub-sub-zero temperatures and snow and ice.
The warmest of welcomes everywhere at this friendliest of festivals was more than ample compensation of course, and Hils and the Mudgather were as always my personal highlights.

Thanks also to the various Catters and fellow-artistes who came and supported my concert set (specially thematically tailored to reflect the Arctic conditions!), your enthusiastic feedback was much appreciated!
Sorry I had to depart and miss most of the final day's activities - as it happened, I timed it just right and got home exactly as the leaden sky dumped its heavy snowfall exactly as forecast by the Met Office elves!

Thanks again Hils, and big well dun. Hope you had a safe journey home and looking forward to reading your report!

Cheers,
MM

We wimped out of the caravanning as we're only 40 minutes away anyway. Congratulations to those hardy souls who braved the elements - it actually hit -11 when we were on our way home on Saturday night.

Great mudgather as usual - glad we were able to get in at the end after hosting the one in the arts centre.

Can I just say a massive THANK YOU to all those who braved the elements to make a really great week-end despite the appalling weather (maybe this was the coldest English Folk Festival of all time?). Thanks to all the Stewards - they were fantastic in the arctic conditions, especially those looking after the parking areas. The management of The Rugby Club who made over 40 phone calls on Friday to get the Central Heating working for us (anyone want to buy the half a dozen fan heaters we dashed out and brought for our contingency plan!) .. and all those others who played their part, audience, guests, crafters, dancers, Sound crews, Steamchicken and Sheena for their fantastic Ceilidh, and of course the Civic Hall, Arts Centre, Rugby Club and Old Black Bank staff and management, all of whom played their (big!) part.
THANKS!

Malc.

Great weekend Malc and Gill!

Most enjoyable so far for me, despite the temperature.

Sorry we missed the Mudgather; Malc made us work so hard! ;0)

Took three and three quarter hours to get home though, due to problems on the M1 south. Moses had another 40 minutes to go after she left me!

Hope everyone got home safely and that you're all keeping warm!

What a Fabulous weekend, but wasn't it cold? Well done to Malc, Gill, Claire and all the Bedworth team for another wonderful Singers WinterFest!!

Huge thanks to all who came to the MudGather & supported the MudRaffle which raised £39. I'll round that up to £40 & send it to Bill Sables for passing to Max. Many thanks to Moorleyman for providing all those prizes, great to be able to pass around the music!!

I find it hard to believe that Richard won the 'perpetual raffle prize', but when he did I just knew he'd be 'giving' it to me.... So it's safely back on the wall in Old Black Bank, till next year *grin*

Rhiannon & Mick Pearce kindly remembered to pass me the £18 that they collected at the Crediton MudGather earlier in the year, and Rhiannon made it up to a round £20. So that'll be winging its way to Bill too.

Lots of grovelling apologies, MGAS, for not making it to the 'gather. Another IOU to you... But it was indeed the greatest Bedworth festival I remember, lots of lovely moments and not a little laughter too (Bill's Man-Cold song to choruses of Atchoo! - not to mention the Mars Bar Party song, or Keith's Valdemort!).
