He said it all: We don't leave our people behind, alive or dead.

Credit and respect given. Bravery should always be acknowledged.

He deserves more, but there's nothing higher in the US.

JtS... insulting in a way, isn't it? The only solace may be that this lad gets some breaks from people who wish to reward him in a fiancial/employment way when he gets home... for thousands that will not be the case and we have heard a lot lately from vets who don't get the help, whatever that might be, that they need both in the USA and CAN. Canuck vets held rallies and protests across the country recently to bring light to their situation. It's tragic.

Sorry for the thread drift but it just reeeally pisses me off. My uncle fought for fourty years for help with medical problems... literally hundreds of docs, interviews, hearings... grrrrrrrrrr.

Rant over.

There's so many more who probably should have received it.... but he is a fine example of how to respond to the honor.

Sorry. I just mean that our society rewards the wrong things.

And now some clown with a religious persuasion claims that we reward the wrong thing -- this guy is a wimp because he was rewarded for saving his comrades' lives, not for killing the enemy. Bryan Fisher shot his mouth off about the most recent honoree (see here).

It reminds me of the complaint about the ex-Guantanamo detainee convicted in a NY court recently. Because he was judged guilty on only one of 244 counts, the right-whingers are saying it proves that civilian courts shouldn't be the place the captured terrorism accused should be tried. It seems to me to prove the opposite. What you can prove gets the verdict, but the complainers seem to think it's "sentence first, verdict after" when it comes to the detainees.

Amazing, I'd say, except after the last year or so, my ability to be amazed has been whittled away to a nub.

Bob

Put a rifle in that bastards hands and see what he can do ... the lowest form of life is one that would disrespect the MOH winner. People get them don't usually get them alive ... that is rare .. This soldier has more than just courage .. He said he life doesn't matter .. the other peoples lives do ... how many people today would do that. HE is a real hero, the real deal.

I hate why he is there but I damn well honor what he did for his comrade.

I agree with what olddude said, but I'd just like to remind him(cuz I know he knows), you don't "win" the MOH!

First time I'd heard Audie Murphy's name in a while!

I absolutely stand corrected, you are so right, one does not win the MOH
