It is called A Toast To Those Who Are Gone. The writer of the article, PAUL C. MISHLER said: Phil Ochs referred to the Spanish Civil War in two songs from the early 1960s. A Toast to Those Who Are Gone was recorded as a demo tape in 1964, and only released in 1986 many years after Ochs' death. The title song contains the following lyrics: Came the Lincoln Brigade with their dreams of a victory, But they fell in the fire of Germany's bombings, And they fell cause nobody would hear their sad warning. Does anyone have the complete lyrics and if so will you post them here please? As MISCHLER says,Ochs also wrote a song entitled "Spanish Civil War Song" (Ochs, 1964), which was recorded between 1962 and 1964 by Broadside magazine and issued only in 1980. but his song I already have in my list on this thread HERE |
