The horse is real, there's no human underneath.

We're sort of in the area at New Year. I wonder if our lovely hosts would mind if we went out to play for a while?

Nice to see the youtube clip. As you say, very old! Mick as I remember him well (first met him in late 71).

Ah yes - Calennig were on the BBC-1 Harry Secombe Highway Sunday evening show. The location was Swansea Museum next to the Docks. How well I remember it - the camera showed our Llantrisant Mari Lwyd, and this beautiful, charming young thing, in a new hair-do, with a voice like an angel. Pat wasn't too bad, either...

How the years roll by, Pavane. How's Dawn? Can you PM me with your new address?

Dr P.

Hi, we are 2, coming from London, we would like to see Mari Llwyd on tour, but we haven't got a car: is there any other with the same problem so we can perhaps rent a car together? or getting a lift? I t seems too far to walk
Thank you

Not sure that we'd be able to help you chiara. We're leaving for S Wales today and won't have access. Hope you get sorted & may see you there.

Haven't got Sat-Nag, but have printed multimap stuff. Is it right that the Lewis Arms is nearer Taffs Well and the M4 junction??

Have a good one, people. We'll get the binoculars out from the other side of the channel - as we always do!

Warning! I've just spotted some post-code/satnag errors! The Lewis Arms is right in Pentyrch in Heol Goch, next-door-but-one to Mari Party member Viv Amos - NOT the Lewis Arms at Tongwynlais, which is a couple of miles away. The Lewis Arms (Pentyrch) had its postcode incorrectly listed as CF15 7JP, whereas its true postcode is CF15 9PN.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I'vw just had this email from Llantrisant Folk Club member Paul Seligman:

"One of my 2009 Mari photos has been selected to appear in a 'World''s Strangest Holiday Traditions' slideshow on a US travel site. As it's in US, for 'Holiday' read 'Christmas'.

http://www.travelandleisure.com/articles/worlds-strangest-holiday-traditions play the whole thing or go straight to Mari on slide 4: http://www.travelandleisure.com/articles/worlds-strangest-holiday-traditions/4

The Llantrisant Mari is (unfortunately) seen disappearing into the New Inn, with the focus being the Carmarthen horse. I didn't think it was my best photo but it's the one they liked, after finding some on Flickr.

There is a little more news about this, but I'll save that for New Years Eve or the next club night..."
