02 Jan 11 - 03:54 PM (#3065729) Subject: Mozart fest on Radio 3 From: Steve Shaw I just can't get enough of this. I just have Radio 3 on all day. It's wonderful. Brilliant Beeb! I hear some people don't get Wolfie. Poor things! |

10 Jan 11 - 08:41 PM (#3071767) Subject: RE: Mozart fest on Radio 3 From: Steve Shaw If you think Mozart is bland, or there's nothing to get, you're not listening. Our house has been joyously filled with sublime music for over a week. I even got me name read out on the request show tonight! :-) |

11 Jan 11 - 10:57 AM (#3072150) Subject: RE: Mozart fest on Radio 3 From: Steve Shaw My second post was a response to one that isn't here any more! I can't really listen to the operatic stuff as "background," but as for the rest, I find it astonishing that he could squeeze so much top-notch music out of such a brief life. There's a bit o' dross as well, of course, mostly his very early music, but it's still instructive to hear it (and most of it hardly ever gets played anyway) to see just how fast he developed, and well after the world got fed up of his "child prodigy" status. I've had the Gran Partita wind serenade in my desert island eight for donkeys' years, but I'm now thinking of what I can oust in order to put in the Sinfonia Concertante...and one or two piano concertos...damn... |

12 Jan 11 - 04:14 PM (#3073254) Subject: RE: Mozart fest on Radio 3 From: ThreeSheds By accident I caught a bit of Mozzy last week. I'd given up scrolling thro late night TV progs and clicked on radio 3 in desperation hoping to catch late junction. I was initially disapointed to find it all Mozart but amazed when I recognised the tune that was being played, note for note it was that folky session fave Portsmouth.Anyone know who knicked what from whom, and which bit of Moz was it |
