Wow! Just finished listening to the samples from the CD (note: they mostly play in order, but not quite, so pay attention, gals and guys.)

And what a website!

Duncan, again, thanks. What a powerful and fitting project. such a sense of place, while still conveying the universality of Bruce Phillips' music.

FWIW, You do your Dad proud, but you also are much your own person and talent.

Howdy, Thanks for the kind words!
I checked the song order on the website. They seemed to ply in order.
Let me know what problems you find and I will fix them. Doing this as a one man show things can slip by.
We are having the CD release tonight here in SLC. All the performers from the CD but one will be doing the thing. Hopefully I will make it back East at some point this year.
Thanks Duncan

Hey folks! Click on Duncan's link to Long Memory and listen up!!!!!

Hi Duncan, I let the samples scroll automatically when I listened last night.   What I thought was occurring, at a couple of points in the middle of the list, was a bit of leap frogging, i.e. instead of the next song playing, the one after it played, then it jumped backward and played the "skipped" song. It is also entirely possible that what was "leap frogging" was my vision.

Hope the release party is a smashing success. From the samples, it is a fine album and I look forward to listening to it.

I'm surprised at the lack of response to this thread so far. Most people probably tend to skim the titles pretty quickly. I know I do. I skipped over it a few times, at first assuming, in spite of the title, that it referred to "Singing Through the Hard Times." My eyes (already noted to perhaps not be the best at tracking,) at first only registered Utah Phillips Tribute CD and I jumped to the conclusion it was a new thread about the album produced by Dan, Kendall and Jacqui. There was just enough brain dissonance to bring me back to it 20 minutes later to open the thread.

Wow, what an awesome CD! I have long been a fan of Utah Phillips and this is a very special tribute to him. Fantastic performances.
Is the CD release performance being videoed for DVD sales later, by any chance ?

Sounds like a great cd in tribute to a wondrous man, singer-songwriter and storyteller. The "Golden Voice of the Great Southwest" will never be still; it will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and heard him. I know that I shall never forget him.

I will start a new thread with a different tittle. Thanks
Poster identified as Duncan Phillips. Duncan, I couldn't figure out why there was need for a new thread, so I combined the threads and the thread titles. In general, we don't encourage multiple threads on the same subject. If you think a thread title chould be changed, please contact me - don't start a new thread simply to change the thread title.

Over the last year I have been working with my Good friend Kate MacLeod on a tribute CD for my father... Utah Phillips. Last Night we held our CD release here in Salt Lake City. It was amazing. Fifteen of the artists from the CD performed in two one hour sets. It was great to see some of my father's old friends sitting in the audience singing along and laughing at the stories.
The CD "Long Gone" is tittled after a song that I wrote for my father as a Christmas present several years back.

Here is a link to the video that accompanies the Utah Phillips tribute CD - Long Gone - Utah Remembers Bruce "Utah" Phillips and a link to my tribute website for my father.

Thanks for the notice. I'm anxious to hear the CD.

You father's music meant/means a great deal to me. I wish I'd had the chance to thank him in person.

Best wishes to both of you.

This is really a fine piece of work. One of the neat things about it is that each of the tracks features Utah's old guitar. Having that sound brings things together nicely and recalls the long memory of Bruce himself.

Congratulations, Duncan - it's a first rate job.
