Req: I should have tagged it!-Claudy Banks version

You know how it is.....you scan the threads and read the posts that interest you...then real life gets in the way and when you come back to the 'cat, the thread has moved off the page.

It is only when you can't find the thread again that you realise how important it was to have tagged it!!

A few days ago a Mudcatter posted a wonderful final verse to Claudy Banks in which the young lady tells her long lost sailor boy to leave her alone. Can I find it? No. Have I tried the Mudsearch? Yes. Have I tried to Google it? Yes. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

Is there a kind soul out there who knows where it's gone to?

Yours in hope,

Peter

Martin....thanks for your quick response. They are the normal words of the song. This was just a new last verse that some-one had posted finishing the story off by the girl declining his love! That was what I wanted.

Grateful for your help though!

Best wishes,

Peter

Both Bernard and I took a poke at Claudy Banks on the happy ending thread.

It may have been my extra verse, which she sings to him:-

You must be joking, sunshine, if you think you'll marry me.
If that's your idea of foreplay then you've spent too long at sea.
I'm looking for a young man, not some old, tarry fright,
And if you're all there is on Claudy Bank I'll come back another night.

Yes! That was it! My day has been made!

Thank you!

(oh what a wondrous thing is the 'Cat)

But if any other versifier has another verse that you have written yourself......please feel free to add.

Best wishes,

Peter

Does anyone have chords for Claudy banks?

it can be harmonised adequately with three chords,
start with tonic.
[tonic]twas on one summers evening all in the monthe of[subdom] may.
down[tonic] by a flowery garden betsy she did[dominant] stray
i overheard a[tonic] young maid, in sorrow to complain all for her absent[sub dominant] lover,
who[tonic] ploughed the[dominant] raging[tonic] main.
if you were in d tonic is dmajor. sub dominant is g major, dominant is amajor.
change the chord not before the word but under the word.
