I've been invited to entertain on the last weekend in June, the 25th and 26th, in Maasmechelen, Belgium, at their annual Del Mundo Street Theater Festival. I'm investigating whether there's a possibility of organizing additional performance opportunities while in the region. Anything at all will work, from busking scenes to clubs, pubs, coffeehouses, house concerts, festivals, and theaters, private parties, etc..., you name it. So, the event at Rudolstadt, on the following weekend, would be a nice addition. Though, they seem to highlight specific countries, musical forms and instruments at that event, I wonder if they'd consider inviting those outside of those chosen themes? Rats! So, I guess that I'll have the No Park Blues Festival Blues. That also leaves me too busy to take in the Color Cafe Festival in Brussels. Perhaps, the Wereldfolklorefestival is a possibiliy. I'll look into that. Someone else mentioned Woodstock Festival Poland, on the border of Germany. It's a free rock based event and it's supposed to attract half a million visitors. I've never considered my self a rocker but I have had folks say that I rock. ;o) |

So, any advice that you world travelers or Euro dwellers might have to offer is also very much appreciated. For instance, will I be able to bring recordings with me to offer at my shows? Or, will international border customs agents frown on that idea? If that is an impossible idea, are there means of copying my recordings once I arrive? Perhaps I could bring one copy of each and used them as masters to burn additional CDRs to offer listeners. My latest work isn't available online yet. What air travel with my guitar? Is there a preferred case or anyone here would recommend? I'd hate to arrive, only to find my favorite guitar crunched. Many thanks, Reg |

And if I remember correctly people told me that there is music outside of the regular program, sessions and busking. You might inquire at office@tff-rudolstadt.de. I hope it's not too late to get a response from them regarding adding me to their list of entertainers. Well, given the number of folks from the other side of the pond, that frequent this site and the number of posts having to do with the music scene over there, I was kind of hoping for a bit more specific insight to be offered, from those who are familiar with that neck o' the woods. Perhaps, the majority of you are from a narrow part of that vast expanse, on the other side and I should being asking for any info you might be willing to offer from your specific areas, regarding festivals that might be willing to feature an American with a homemade resophonic guitar and a hand saw. So, I'm now thinking that I should expand my horizons to also include the UK and Ireland in my search for additional venues that might be willing to host my endeavors. I might as well. I'd love to consider that I'll be invited to return or that other opportunities will arise once I'm there and folks get an earful of what I have to offer. I'd love to have another opportunity like this. However, should something unforeseen delay that return, I would really enjoy seeing as much as I can and being able to share my music with as many as I can while there. So, are there any Mudcatters in the UK or Ireland that would be willing to hip me to the best Folk and Blues venues or festivals that might consider hosting my acoustic bottleneck Folk/Blues while I'm in the area? Of course, if a guy playing a guitar made out of recycled garage sale junk and flexing razor sharp spring steel teeth betwixt his knees, with the pointy parts mere millimeters away from body parts that don't grow back, isn't interesting enough to consider, I will also be traveling with a partner while on this adventure. He is, perhaps, the world's best known spoon player. He's the guy featured on Soundgarden's Grammy Award winning song, Cd and video "Spoonman". |

From: reggie miles The Fooles Troupe, if ya put a shipping container near spoonman, while he's playing, he's, more than likely, going to use it as percussion device. He's just that way. ;o) I've seen him use his audience as part of his show/act, playing his spoons on various body parts of audience members standing nearby. It's all in good fun, and fun is a big part, perhaps the biggest part, of why so many of us have spent so much of our lives following this musical path in the first place. |
