Oh, my. What sad news. Only 63. Elisabeth Sladen is and always will be a **STAR** in the Who Universe. May Sara Jane Smith continue to shine brightly in our hearts and memories.

Sad really. I used to love watching "The Sarah Jane Adventures". What amazes me is the number of actors and actresses who die of cancer. Rest in Peace.

Really sad news. Poor brave lady I wonder how long she knew that she had it.

RIP

I am immensely saddened. She was one of my absolute favorites. First Nicholas Courtney, now Elisabeth Sladen.

Sad times, indeed.

RIP

just found this quote:

"The Universe has to move on. Pain and loss, they define us as much as happiness or love. Whether it's a world or a relationship, everything has its time and everything ends." - Sarah Jane Smith, "School Reunion". RIP Elisabeth Sladen, 1948 - 2011.

How am I going to break this news to my "Sarah Jane Adventures" loving 7 year old daughter when she gets back from her trip.

Nuts - I had no idea she was ill!

I dropped into The ABC Shop and did some "In Memorium Shopping" - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Didn't have the money for the 11 Doctor set of dolls....

There are apparently three more episodes which she worked on while ill.

What a shame ... much too young.

Very sad. I'd forgotten all about her, to tell the truth, until she came back into Dr Who a few years ago. The story (about monsters running a school) wasn't much to write home about but the sub-text about growing old and living with lost, unrequited love was surprisingly moving and well-done.

Straight after Saturday night's Dr Who there was a tribute to Sarah Jane on the CBBC channel (Children's BBC). Although I belive iPlayer is a little touchy about access from outside the UK, the link is Here

In Waterstones in the Trafford Centre on Saturday night we noticed an impromptu shrine on the bookshelves with a Dr Who book propped open to a portrait of Sarah Jane Smith with a copy of spiritual verses. A nice touch, but I didn't have my camera...

As a tribute BBC4 (UK) are showing Hand of Fear from 1976 - four parts starting tonight 7.40 with parts 1 & 2 and concluding same time tomorrow with 3 & 4.

And there's an episode of Noggin the Nog on before it both nights...
