I understand that the full title of this song is: It's Saturday night at the Adam Smith Hall and it was written by Andy Shanks and Jim Russell. It has been sung by June Tabor.
I would like if possible to have the lyrics and chords for this lovely song please if anyone can oblige.
Kind regards from the Isle of Man.

Hi threlegsoman the chords i play might follow once i check them out with the recording.
I like yor recordings on you-tube
I am reliably informed that Andy Shanks tend to vary the tune ofthis song. I have one recording of it on a "Folk in fife CD"

IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE ADAM SMITH HALL

Saturday Night at the Adam Smith Hall,
The couples all move to the dance master's call
Tonight they've no problems, no worries at all,
The dancing's the dancing tonight.

Chorus
But oh Monday morning, she comes round too soon,
The sound of the flax mill, the beat of the loom,
But tonight the band's playing a romantic tune,
The dancing's the dancing tonight

Her partner is perfect, he's light on his feet,
The footwork is graceful, perhaps they might meet,
By chance by the Old Kirk, or even Hunter St,
On the way to the Adam Smith Hall, .... Chorus

Walking home late by Kirkcaldy's sea wall,
The sea looks so big, the sky looks so tall,
The fate of two people can't matter at all,
Just a waltz in three quarter time, .... Chorus

ThreeLegs, did you record it? I couldn't find it on your channel, but then there's a lot there! :)

There are alternative chords here

I believe that although the original title was It's Saturday night at the Adam Smith Hall. it was later changed to The Dancing.

I think the proper title of the song is "The Dancing" (Andy Shanks and Jim Russell)

Yes, June Taber recorded this with the title "The Dancing" and a bunch of other artists who got the song from her used this title too. But Andy Turner of Magpie Lane wrote in their "Three Quarter Time" sleeve notes and on his blog "A Folk Song a Week" that "(It's) Saturday Night at the Adam Smith Hall" is the original title.
