Something I once heard played on the radio, and would love to hear again, was a recording of Pete's address to HUAC, where he told them "Shame on you!" and told them off (in a civilized way) but with such incredible power and forcefulness and - most of all - integrity, that it made shivers run down my spine. If anyone knows where I might find it, I'd really appreciate it - I would love to hear it again, and play it for friends... |

MY favorite was Zero Mostel. When they asked him his name he said "Sam Mostel". They then inquired if he was also known as Zero, and if so, why? I totally agree that Pete is one of the greatest people (worldwide) in our time. When I think of the trouble that he has endured because he insists on helping people recognize and celebrate common humanity, I am reminded of W B Yeats's poem "The Curse of Cromwell."
