John Stewart Wingless Angels LP Question

Hi there...I owned this album (vinyl, of course) years ago. Hopefully someone out there still does. My question is this, if you have it: At the conclusion of the song "Mazatlan," the song segues into a terrific version of the Mexican corrido "Adelita." I need the name of the Mexican group that provided this particular version of "Adelita." I believe this information was provided on the liner notes on the sleeve of the LP. Muchas gracias in advance.

There's no credit for the band on my (English) copy, anyone got a US copy?

Tony

I have it;there is a pretty complete listing of musicians/composers,etc on the back of the jacket
but none for the specific thing you're looking for..
If there was an inner paper sleeve with more info,
I've lost it..sorry....I think the John Stewart site
might exist still as part of the Kingston trio site,
perhaps some of those fans may be able to help you..

I'm almost certain that both John Stewart and his wife "Buffy" Ford spoke fluent Spanish. The Nashville studio pros that were usually on his records could play anything they needed to play including marimba and Mexican-style accordian. In short, they did not really need to have a free-standing group come in and help, althought they might have.

After listening to this song about a hundred times since 1975, I'm pretty certain it's not Stewart and studio musicians doing "Adelita." I could be wrong. If the information was provided, it was on the inner sleeve of the LP, not the album cover. I may have to hit the record stores in my area to track this down. That's not an unpleasant thought. Thanks anyway, all.

I have both the jacket and inner sleeve of the Wingless Angels album: as mentioned by GUEST.Bernie, there is no mention of a specific group on the jacket; similarly, the inner sleeve only lists the title, "Adelita", immediately followed by the words "Public Domain" in the same "field" where the other songs list the composer. No musicians or groups are singled out on the inner sleeve, for any song. Sorry.

Like GUEST.Big Daddy, after hundreds of listens over the decades, something about the texture or sound of the group always felt "imported" or pasted-in, not necessarily the product of the same studio environment that resulted in the album.

Afterthought: there IS one cryptic reference of "Wings To:" [awards] to "Serg-Andy-Peter and John - Endurance with tacos" on the back of the album cover. Anybody's guess as to what that was about!
