Only 3 weeks away - sunshine booked - who's coming?

Me for sure - it's going to be a really fantastic weekend cos DTD has booked a brilliant lineup.

Is it really only 3 weeks away? Just a thought... perhaps we should be "counting down" in days and hours and minichs (as opposed to weeks)?!

Really hope you can get to it Ray, it will be grand to see you.

A question I find that I have to ask every year is, can you just turn up at the campsite and pay for camping or do you have to get camping tickets from the festival office in Cleckheaton first?

Chris

Not a problem Soldier Boy - pay on arrival at the campsite as usual and still only £3 per night for full weekend ticket holders and £8 per night for others. This includes use of the free Mini-Bus service to and from the camp site.

This is the year off from Saddleworth folk festival and Sid is polishing the Trophy to get rid of his finger prints

I'll think of you all but I'm sorry to have to tell you Tykes that Sid was on sparkling form at Four Fools - but then he was on home ground. I hope playing away puts him at a disadvantage.

Wars of the Roses???????????????!!!!!!

I thought that was when one gang of Northerners had a brawl with another gang of Northerners as to who was going to lord it over the Southerners.

Is it still going on?????????And does the Gubbinsment know???????

On a more serious note (pregnant pause) is it (push)bikeable from where ever the Festival is to where ever the camping is?

JP2,Westerner and Cleckheaton Virgin!!!!!

Its better than that - its mini busable (provided by us) from Campsite to Town Hall. Donations welcome. If you want to ride a bike it's 3/4 mile from Town Centre so yes it's no problem and pretty flat!

The Rose of Athens would have attended the War of the Roses, but for the fact that he is "being met" at the same time. Might catch the last half hour though.

Well I'll still be there to "meet and greet" you George!
Can't wait...

But hey, d' you suspect it's all a ploy to stop honorary Yorkies like us from swelling the winning team?!!!
Fear not, fair Rose Of Athenry, for you SHALL go to the ball - your Meet will finish in time to catch the climax of the battle-royal, for it's only a short step away and your carriage awaits!

It is my humble duty to inform you all that Lancashire did, indeed, retain the "Saddleworth War of the Roses" trophy for another year! Commiserations to the Yorkshire team who once again proved worthy opponents and put up a good fight. Thanks to the judges for a difficult job well done and thanks to Dave Minich and Cleckheaton Festival for hosting the event at short notice. Pictures on The Lancashire Society FB page.

The Red Rose blooms in Yorkshire! - God Save the Queen - Duke of Lancaster!!

What can I say!
I was and I am gutted, Yorkies sang their hearts out and I truly believe that we had done more than enough to win

Well it is down to the judges on the day and their preferences as to style content and trad/contemporary

Just one point we do NOT use pa's in this event as matter of course, never have!

Congratulations to to Sid and his team of highly proficient singers and thanks to all who contributed!

Ray

Didn't you notice the sneaky way Sid slipped in his prose. Shouldn't you have raised an " objection mi lo'd "

Well regardless of winners I was very pleased to take part and as always enjoyed the performances of our Lancastrian brothers and sisters as much as our own! Well done Sid and Co! commiserations to colleagues but like all fighting men and women let's regroup, rearm and think on next battle!!!!

As a slightly biased commentator can I commiserate with our galant team and pass on thanks to our trusty captain 'Little Legs Padgett' who as e know was still team captain and this only months after serious heart repair work. The trophy has only been 'borrowed' Sidney

The event was only borrowed - love to do it again next year 6th, 7th and 8th July - and interesting that it shouldn't be sounded - please confirm that this is the case if we are to try again for Yorkshire next year?
