Subject: RE: Sedburg and Dentdale Festivals
From: muppett
Hiya, Yep the story goes as follows; What is now the Sedbergh festival 4 years ago was the Dent Folk festival, however the organiser thought that it had outgrown Dent, so moved it over to just outside sedbergh. In the meantime the many of the Dent residents wanted to have a festival as it had been a boost to the local economy, so a committee was set up and the Dent Beer & Music festival was born. It was decidded to keep it on the same weekend as it had been fixed in the local calendar of events for the area. It has been whispered in the area that the Sedburgh fest ( as it is now known) is moving to a different date, but I've not heard it from offical quarters so don't know if this is true. So there you go. For a more 'colourful' explanation and loosly based on the story go to www.malcbooks.yolasite.com and download the book 'The Devil's jig
