22 Jun 11 - 07:12 AM (#3174420) Subject: Sedburg and Dentdale Festivals From: GUEST,Iain Seems odd to me that Sedbergh and Dentdale Festivals, just a few miles from one another are having competing festivals on the same weekend. I guess there must be some sort of reason for this, but it seems a pity that they have decided to clash with one another. Can anyone explain what it is all about? |

In the meantime the many of the Dent residents wanted to have a festival as it had been a boost to the local economy, so a committee was set up and the Dent Beer & Music festival was born. It was decidded to keep it on the same weekend as it had been fixed in the local calendar of events for the area. It has been whispered in the area that the Sedburgh fest ( as it is now known) is moving to a different date, but I've not heard it from offical quarters so don't know if this is true. So there you go. For a more 'colourful' explanation and loosly based on the story go to www.malcbooks.yolasite.com and download the book 'The Devil's jig |

But at least the Shepley organisers had the common sense to run theirs on a different weekend. It would seem a bit silly to have them both at the same time, unless their is some 'bad blood' stirring in peoples veins! See you in Dent this weekend Muppett lad. Chris |

Prob. with Dent is there's only one sesh pub which is very small, so little room for players. We had seshes in the beer garden but all depends on dry weather. We're hoping use some of Sedbergh pubs for seshes - any suggestions? |
