27 Jun 11 - 04:25 PM (#3177345) Subject: Woody Guthrie - 1949 live recordings From: Thomas Stern I repeat my comment posted on the Guthrie "My Dusty Road" thread: the Wire recordings issued a while ago by the Guthrie Archive - those recordings open an incredible window on Guthrie as a performer interacting with an audience and with his wife. Those truly are essential to expanding ones knowledge of "Woody". This fabulous recording has now been issued by ROUNDER. Essential purchase for anyone interested in Woody Guthrie! Live Wire issued by Rounder Live Wire - Guthrie Archive At your favourite purveyor of little silver discs. Best wishes, Thomas. |

03 Jul 11 - 06:32 PM (#3180919) Subject: RE: Woody Guthrie - 1949 live recordings From: GUEST The only recordings of a full performance by Woody. By 1949 was he was starting to suffer the early effects of Huntingtons' Disease, and it shows on these recordngs. Compare them with the Library of Congress sessions with Alan Lomax. But they are a treat to listen to. Highly reccommended. Mark Ross |
