Take a look at this video taken at the Harp Hotel, Shropshire . The star turn appears about 5'20" into the action.

Give me hint, Jack. Is this abuse you want me to see?

And why do you have a dog's name?

It's not pornographic if that's what you mean. Just a very funny video of a band trying to cope with a difficult situation. I was talking to one of the band members last night and he was still laughing over it.

The band members are true professionals. They never miss a beat, except when the dog has his teeth in the trumpet.

Cheerily,

I'm wondering if the dog managed to make teethmarks in the trumpet. Jack Russells have a very strong jaws!

He did. I just hope the trumpeter managed to get them out.

I saw a jack Russell on TV today. He was specially trained to sniff out bedbug infestations in houses!! The (UK) guy said he'd been trained in USA.

This takes me back.........I recall going with my then girlfriend, and her dog, to a Waterson/Carthy gig in Southport. The dog was peacefully asleep under the girlfriend's chair until Mike W. chanced to stamp at the start of a chorus. The dog was startled out of its sleep, leapt up and headed, barking, for the stage....The Watersons stopped singing, Carthy looked totally shocked, there was a state of mild pandemonium, and was the girlfriend embarassed?! Mike W. recovered first, reigned in the dog and made a real fuss of it. I think the song was "The Country Life", although "Bellman" would have been more appropriate.

Pretty entertaining!

Jumping up on my soap box for a moment:

This is a nice example of why lessons in 'Setting boundaries with dogs - 101' ought to be taught in school and refreshed annually till graduation, not unlike fire safety. If these guys had known how, it would've been simple to shut down what began as a mild case of normal curiosity. However they (apparently inadvertently) repeatedly invited the dog to intrude further instead of communicating that the behaviour was not acceptable.

It's an ongoing mystery to me how members of our society, in which dogs are so prevalent, can be so unskilled in managing even mild behaviour errors. (Yes, the behaviour may be natural for a dog, but in the human world there are rules to be followed and not following them is, to me, an error of behaviour. Of course the primary behavioural error was made by a different human: Failure to use a leash!)

Okay, jumping down off my soap box now!
:-)

Isn't hugging crows a violation of boundaries?

I do believe doggie was actually barking in tune with the band, so that's OK ;)
