From: Nick Off walking in the Peak District next week and wonder if there are any sessions or singarounds around the Hope / Hope Valley area on Friday / Saturday 5th / 6th August? we are at a B&B in Hope so within reasonable striking distance of there |

From: GUEST,Jon Not my area but I know the Three Stags Head, Wardlow (6.5 miles from Hope according to AA route finder) could have some folk music. I've a feeling some of the Sheffield session players went out that way sometimes. |

From: GUEST,Ray I live within walking distance of the Hope Valley but, alas, there's nothing I know of which would suit. Something may happen (or not) in the Three Stags Heads in Wardlow Mires but its not a place I've ever frequented. It isn't that far from Hope but you'd have to drive. There is the Barrel - just along the ridge from the gliding club - but they generally play on Wednesdays. Then there's the Queens in Bakewell - fine if you're into old time in the same key all night - but that's on Thursday and probably a bit far. Most of the musicians in this area tend to congregate in Buxton and during the week. I suppose we could organise something but I'm off to the Dales for the weekend. Trouble with the Hope Valley is that, at the weekend, its full of tourists! |
