Can't believe I'm the first to post this.

Ehlers Memorial Hall is the old Dining Hall--last year, the place we had the silent auction and the evening concerts.

Why does the schedule say "LATE NIGHT MUSIC in RETREAT CENTER, NATURE CENTER, and EHLERS HALL" with no mention of the Peace Cabin?   Aren't we gonna stay up all night jammin' and singin' in the Peace Cabin this year like normal?

Shhhh... there's 'official' sites, then there's........

How many do you want trying to get into Peace? There could be other places also. *grin*.... but they won't tell you.

Once again, you can't be in three places at once. Daylong ballad workshop is a neat addition.
Next year...

I posted to this thread yesterday, but my post seems to have disappeared. Dunno why. The news about the schedule was also in the "Program Suggestions" thread.

Anyhow, we're pretty pleased with the schedule, and hope you are, too. Take a good look -- if you are a workshop leader and we have you in two places at once, let us know NOW and we'll fix it. If you just want to BE in two (or more) places at once, well, welcome to the club. Better too much that too little, right? Once again, we were unable to arrange a cloning workshop. Sorry.

If you haven't yet registered, do it NOW, please.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Weren't we planning to have a "This Is Us" launch party at the Getaway? Unless I'm looking right at it and not seeing it (which is entirely possible), it's not on the formal schedule ... so when are we gonna have it?

So all you are saying is - "Give Peace a chance?"

Sadly, Chance said he can't be there this year. :(

Yeah, CB, there will be a "This Is Us" Mudcat CDs release at Getaway, but I don't know what form it will take. A session where excerpts from the CDs are played? (That could take quite a while.) An announcement at the Saturday night concert, along with a display of the CDs in the CD sales area? Posters? Maybe Bradfordian or michaelr will fill us in.

What a fabulous time this looks to be. It's breaking my heart that I can't go this year. The economics of being downsized & a splurge in going to OLD SONGS just before getting the chop, not knowing I wouldn't be able to do both, and make a choice just sucks bilgewater.

I SO wanted a reprise of Sally Rogers' Music Theory session that was so densely packed with "aha!" moments last year, I can't remember them all, even from my notes. John Roberts & David Jones doing music hall songs- way too much fun (though it might not quite match the time the two of them did that workshop with Heather Wood-in a Viking helmet- at Fox Valley) A day of ballads... gahhhhhh I want to be there!!!!

Last year was my first time attending, after hearing about it for years, and it far surpassed the expectations of fun. That was in spite of a very costly car repair/rental incident that got me there quite late. I'm going to have to put myself on the list of people who have steely determination to attend Getaway 2012.

Joanne in Cleveland, looking for a full time job, dagnabbit.

Re "This is Us".
It would be nice if folks that want to buy a set would let me know, so that I'd have some idea of how many to bring? I'm getting too old to lug CDs back and forth.

Maybe we should start a thread for that, Dick. (And I'd like one, please!)

It looks like I go last on Sunday's schedule, co-leading a humorous songs workshop, up against Farewell Songs and Lullabyes.

I guess that makes it a choice for you all of Leave Them, Leave Them Laughing and Leave Consciousness Altogether. Three great ways to go out. Wish I could be at them all, but I'll try to provide some relief for fatigue and tearful farewells while they stay busy providing relief from Roger and I. There'll probably also be a traditional Love Them And Leave Them Workshop going on behind the bushes somewhere, and maybe a Lever Brothers, Lever tradional clean nautical farewell songs jam down by the water, as well. Take your chance at your chants wherever you will and you shouldn't be able to go wrong.

I understand they were going to offer my co-host the Lullabyes slot and call the workshop "Roger-Over and Out", but I'm glad to be working with him and his vast repetoire of funny stuff instead.

See you all there!

Dick, I definitely want to buy at least one full set. I may want more, but I'm not sure how many I can fit into my airplane luggage.

Keep in mind that the schedule is still subject to change. We've just had to make one change. We hope there won't be any more, but you never know...

Even with changes, it's gonna be great!

Wonderful schedule. It looks like a great mix of technical tips and topic songs. It's heartening to see Jesse Greer on there as a co-leader. I see him around town as a grown-up few times a year, but I always remember Jesse as that young kid who played Risk and Dungeons & Dragons with my son at my first few Getaways in the early 2000's. I love the idea of the all-day Ballad workshop. Those songs will be getting the breathing room they really need. I too wish I could see Sally Rogers' Theory Workshop again. I also still have my notes from last year. Sing well, kids. Looking forward to being there next year.

I'll be leading a workshop on CLOTHING IN SONG on Sunday afternoon. How many songs do you know where characters are described by the clothing they wear? Hope you'll come and sing your favorites!

Well, we can always do both. That WOULD be odd, wouldn't it, to be singing about clothing without wearing any, ourselves.

What Charlie said:

"So I'm missing Magpie, Joel Mabus, Sally Rogers, John Roberts, Judy Cook, Davy Jones, all favorites, and a host of other folks I don't even know who are probably equally as good.Drat!"

and add Charley Noble to my "Drat!" list. I bought his book at Old Songs thinking I'd get an autograph at Getaway. Next year for both of us, I hope!

Joanne, still in Cleveland (At least I get John Roberts later in the month, when I'll quiz him for details)
