19 Sep 11 - 10:11 AM (#3225539) Subject: BS: Craft ideas for French Knitting From: Penny S. Can someone correct that typo, please? Meanwhile, the French Knitting, by whatever name you use for the cord you produce by hooking wool over four prongs in the top of a thread spool or similar device. I am planning to use up my ancient stash of wooden spools, kept for school use, but never used, by turning them into attractive knitting gadgets for Oxfam to sell as stocking fillers. They will probably need instructions, and definitely ideas for using the resulting cord. As I recall from childhood, this was where the activity failed. After friendship bracelets, spiral mats, flower shapes and egg cosies, I have run out of thoughts. All ideas welcome. (Do I really mean that?) Penny |

They used them as coasters or place mats. RtS |

I don't know if I am allowed to publicize this, but if you join Yahoo Spoolknitter (of which I am the current moderator) you will find heaps of patterns both by members and also in links. We have many talented designers in the group and we also have competitions. We have members who also collect the spool knitters - old, new, and handmade. You can also get ideas from the pages of the Flickr Spool Knitter group which I also manage. Maybe we will see you there! .... cheers, Maz |

If this doesn't work, go to the Lion Brand Yarn Website and search on "Little Felted Spool-Knit Teddy Bear"--you might have to join Lion Brand but if you do, you'll find that they have a lot of neat patterns. Now I'm going to see if I can get into that Yahoo group! |
