Not quite clear what ref you are after, Willi. Following is the first verse of The Streets Of Derry in DT; is this any connection with what you seek? Or is it a Shax ref you seek as your post-name might suggest?

"And after morning there comes an evening,
And after evening another day,
And after false love there comes a true love,
Come listen now to what I say."

"Row on" in the DT has "There's dawn beyond the night..."

Help

I look in your eyes and what did I see
A dark land around a dark sea
But soon I'll be there and blow clouds away
So moon can be light up your way

Some passion and a helping hand
Will lead you through the land
And show you where the boat lies
To cross the sea of tears and cries

But after night there comes the day
And after rain there comes the sun
And you will find another way
To laugh and love and have fun

You have to sail the sea of tears
Walk over Heartbreak Hill
And then you possibly will
Leave the land of all those fears

It's easier to stay behind
But it will hurt you more
Come take this trip and you may find
Someone you love and adore

Might be what you're after!

I haven't heard Barry Dransfield do it but I have an idea that Allan Taylor used to sing. I caught him at Laycock in 1972 and I'm sure that was one he did then.

Robyn is right. It's a song by Allan Taylor called Still He Sings and was recorded on an excellent Album called The Lady ( 1971 )
I used to have a copy of the LP which I'll try and locate and post the lyrics if I can.

Hi again Willi.
Have found LP together with very useful lyric sheet.

STILL HE SINGS - Allan Taylor ( March 1971 )

After night there comes the day
And so the dark will pass away
Through the dawn a wonderouse thing is born
Comes the day.

When the minstrel sings his song
And the people wander on
Still he sings for the pleasure music brings
Still he sings

When the colours seem to fade
Perhaps your standing in the shade
Just for you the colours filter through
Just for you.

When the words begin to rhyme
And then flow as rich as wine
Then you've heard, the poets spoken word
Rich as wine.

Repeat 1st verse ?

Whilst typing this have just noticed a similarity with the song
The Singers Request as recorded by Nic Jones. Interesting ??
Anyway hope this helps.
Cheers Dom

R&B Dransfield recorded it and you'll find it on their LP "Lord of All I Behold"; which can't have been that long after the song was written.
