WAS MY 'DO-GOODERS' THREAD ARBITRARILY CLOSED?

'Forward, the Light Brigade!'
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldiers knew
  Some one had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
  Rode the six hundred.

MtheGM, perhaps you could send a PM to ask why.

Thank you, Stower. I thought of doing so; but I had not received any PM on the matter, and consider this unexplained action without reference to me as discourteous. So I desired a public statement of the reason for it.

And still do...

As John Wayne said, in 'She Wore a Yellow Ribbon'
"Never apologize and never explain--it's a sign of weakness."

The day I take The Duke, in no matter what role or context, as my social and ethical mentor, will be the day the Pacific freezes over, John.

I regard discourtesy as a weakness.

Not that I am a mod, but my understanding of the position is that they have absolute discretion and there is no appeal. Oh, and further, that public discussion of decisions is not permitted.

I've always thought that "Never apologize and never explain--it's a sign of weakness" is an indication of extreme insecurity. I'm not at all sure that that wasn't what the line in the film was intended to imply.

That's a comment on the quote, and the film, not on the Mudcat clones. They sometimes clamp down a bit quick on stirring, more especially when its re-stirring.

And glancing at how the thread was developing indicates to me that they made the right decision this time...
