Blips of down-ness through the day, but it's all up-ness now.

It's been down a couple of times for me, today, Max, but that was a while ago. Seemed a might slow in loading just now, but I think that was because I'd just shut down netflix.

The downblips were me upgrading the database server. I was messing with some pretty sensitive caching settings and was afraid I was seeing a lag, which would essentially turn the forum into a non-linear mess. That's how I live all the time (birth defect) but y'all would have been disoriented.

Keep an eye on her. A few new things installed last night and today. Use this thread to report any odd behavior (not my odd behavior, the servers').

Please keep it clean from other topics.

Thanks gang.

On a Mac and also using firefox. Had no problems early this morning when others were not able to get on. There was a period between 6ish an 7ish this evening when firefox let me know right smartly that there was no joy. Came back about an hour later, and it has been smooth sailing since then.

Firefox run on a Linux machine is going fine here in UK, as are Opera and Midori on the same machine, should they be of interest.

Things were a bit intermittent a few hours ago, but the behaviour of other sites was also dodgy. I suspect that most of the difficulty lay with the web rather than the site.

Max, I may ask your permission to write something which is fast for mobile browsers but as I currently have no time whatsoever, probably not soon.

Subit MEssage button is a bit wonky. On another thread it did nothing, apparently. Refreshed window, re-pasted post and submit button did work, but only after a long wait for server.

I am logged in on Firefox and the Google ads are all gone - took a minute to realize why the look was so clean. I was going to test going to a few to see how they behaved.

I just viewed the site with a browser that doesn't have me signed in (Opera) and the ads are still there - this is a big improvement, to not see ads, unless having members see them gives you more income from Google.

I use Safari with my MacBook (OS X Leopard) and I've had hardly any trouble getting into the Mudcat cafe over the past few days.   Once in a while I may not be able to access the site, but that generally lasts for only an hour or so, at longest.

I'm signed in (actually, I haven't signed out) and still see ads. But I have an old PC with an older version of IE. Perhaps that's why? Am I not supposed to see ads now?

Still don't understand why it (sometimes) takes two or three clicks of the "back" button for it to work. Now and then I just give up and click the homepage link at the top of the page. That always works the first time.

I'm not exactly sure what Max is testing, so I'm not sure what I should be looking for.

Weird event: I was reading a thread (using Firefox, BTW,) and hit the Back arrow to return to the list of threads - a split second later I found myself in a thread to which I posted a few days ago. I know I haven't yet had my second cup of coffee yet, so I don't know whether it was me or a Mudcat gremlin. The thread I was transported to was the one at the top of my tracer.

Using Broadband, usually very fast connection, with Firefox - Verrry slow today on top of scattered delays in the last couple or three weeks. No discernible delay on other sites.

No complaints from me, Max. Live your life and do what you need to do.

Hi, Max-
Several people who subscribe to the daily e-mail digest, say they haven't received the digest for several weeks. I checked their memberships, and assure them they are properly signed up for the digest and should get it when it starts working again.
I directed them to our messages by day as a substitute, and some liked that feature a lot.

Here's the thing.....Sometimes the joint is fast and sometimes it is slow. Next case! And I have a great case to bring to all the aging folks here at Mudcat which is damn near everyone. Since Max has gathered a crowd here, let me advertise just a bit.............

Have you noticed that as you age your defecation times can sometimes also be a part of your sleep cycle? If this is happening to you, I would suggest the latest Senior Citizen aid right along with those weird ass bath tubs with doors. The OSHA approved and AARP recommended "LCR" (Lap Crap Restraint), often called the Lapper Crapper, can prevent a rude awakening on the bathroom floor. Get the model with the optional shoulder restraint.

Cletus' company, Crappers on Casters, has installed them in all of their portapotties with excellent results. They often have to set up their units on very unlevel ground and the belts have served them well. No more complaints from people being thrown out the door during a good healthy shit simply because they released their grip on the wall bar.   At a very small Herman Cain rally in Ansted, West Virginia, one particularly rotund lady with a large firebox fell asleep reading his book and actually did a complete somersault as she crashed through the door. She then slid down the hill face first with her ass bouncing high in the air...... quite a sight ...... scared the hell out of two kids playing hopscotch on the shuffleboard court at the foot of the hill.

I also have taken over manufacturing and distribution rights for the product and hope to soon have an updated Blue Ribbon model with an added airbag feature. We had great success with the Amish-Australian Pitchfork Moustache Tuner and the Gordon Bok Fan and we expect this to go even better. We have installed these in every room at the Neil Young Center for the Terminally Screwed.....except for the "Elvis" and "Lenny Bruce" suites where you are free to wind up in a deceased state on the bathroom floor with your ass hanging out.

This device is now available from Fly-By-Night Industries, one of America's Foremost Manufacturers. We have been manufacturing Foremost for years and now also have the new and larger Fivemost available. All of our products come with a money back guarantee. Simply return the unused portion of the product and we will return the unused portion of your money.
