Hi KIm, I'm doing well for my age. How about you?

Peachy, I reckon. I turned 44 last month and I noticed my knees go snap-crackle-pop whenever I bend really low. Doesn't hurt, though.

Back in the spring I got laid off from my job of nearly 15 years, which was traumatic because I'd never been unemployed in all my adult life. I had a little summer vacation (at home) and got a new job in July, just before all my severance ran out. :-)

Yo Kim! Great that you got a new job. As for the knees... get used to it... it's just the start.

Doing wonderfully here, life is good..sun's shining through the window, but that's deceptive it's a wee bit chilly out...other that and one or two minor irritants....things is wonderful...How be you? :-)

Job hunting right now is an ordeal and I'm sympathetic with anyone who has to go through it. I got lucky that I was only out of a job for 3 months - I know several who have been out of work for a lot longer.

Kim: Hiya!! Glad to see your sunny typeface around!!

We're okay here in Southern California, the Granola Capital of the West. Peter Stampfel is coming to jam with us Saturday, and I have a beauteous new instrument from Nick Apollino. Life is good in many many ways.

Hi Kim!!! Happy to see you and I do miss having you around. Jobs help because money helps. They say it talks and that's true.......Mine says "Goodbye."   Now if you need a few extra bucks, I could use a rep down your way for the latest from Fly-By-Night Industries. You're not old enough yet to need one but there is an aging population in your neck of the woods too!

Have you noticed that as you age your defecation times can sometimes also be a part of your sleep cycle? If this is happening to you, I would suggest the latest Senior Citizen aid right along with those weird ass bath tubs with doors. The OSHA approved and AARP recommended "LCR" (Lap Crap Restraint), often called the Lapper Crapper, can prevent a rude awakening on the bathroom floor. Get the model with the optional shoulder restraint.

Cletus' company, Crappers on Casters, has installed them in all of their portapotties with excellent results. They often have to set up their units on very unlevel ground and the belts have served them well. No more complaints from people being thrown out the door during a good healthy shit simply because they released their grip on the wall bar.   At a very small Herman Cain rally in Ansted, West Virginia, one particularly rotund lady with a large firebox fell asleep reading his book and actually did a complete somersault as she crashed through the door. She then slid down the hill face first with her ass bouncing high in the air...... quite a sight ...... scared the hell out of two kids playing hopscotch on the shuffleboard court at the foot of the hill.

I also have taken over manufacturing and distribution rights for the product and hope to soon have an updated Blue Ribbon model with an added airbag feature. We had great success with the Amish-Australian Pitchfork Moustache Tuner and the Gordon Bok Fan and we expect this to go even better. We have installed these in every room at the Neil Young Center for the Terminally Screwed.....except for the "Elvis" and "Lenny Bruce" suites where you are free to wind up in a deceased state on the bathroom floor with your ass hanging out.

This device is now available from Fly-By-Night Industries, one of America's Foremost Manufacturers. We have been manufacturing Foremost for years and now also have the new and larger Fivemost available. All of our products come with a money back guarantee. Simply return the unused portion of the product and we will return the unused portion of your money.

Just passed my eightieth birthday a couple months ago and I feel fine (despite an occasional pop or squeak).

The oldest man I ever met was 114 when I met him and he lasted until he was 134. Sounds like a goal to shoot for. He had generally good health all the way, and he used to get up early and walk about mile before breakfast until the day he died (peacefully in his sleep).

I still sing, and people tell me my voice is as good as it ever was. I practice the guitar every day (well…..almost every day). I have some fairly decent recording equipment and I'm planning to cobble up as many CDs as I can (know lots of songs; need to get them down somewhere). Thinkin' about doing a web page (pure vanity).

I'm busily writing up a storm (when I'm not messin' around on Mudcat). Occasional magazine articles, along with working on a book:   informal or personal view of the folk scene in the Pacific Northwest during the Fifties, Sixties, and onward, along with my adventures following my career (or as Tom Robbins would say, "my careen") as a singer of folk songs during that time. Nothing so grandiose as a formal history. I want to be free to express my personal opinions and make a few smartass observations.

Feelin' good. Havin' fun.

Keep on truckin'.

Alive and kicking and gearing up for my first NaNoWriMo. My knees creak too when I miss my glucosamine for more than a few days.

And if the tenor doesn't get laryngitis, my barbershop quartet will cross the international contest stage for the first time next month in Hershey PA. The dogs and I are loving this cooler weather. Thank goodness summer's heat is done for the year...let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...as long as I only have to romp the dogs in it, and not drive too far in it! Oh, and I'm practising for my first handbell solo, a medley of W Zlobie Lezy (Infant Lowly, Infant Holy) and an uncommon melody for Away in a Manger--I knew it first as Flow Gently, Sweet Afton. My bell solo debut is Nov. 26 in Bowmanville ON.

Fate willing that's three wonderful firsts within the month of November. Gee, I guess that's better than merely "alive and kicking."

Right now I'm pretty well. Been having mild problems with my right knee for a week, but I think it has settled down, though I won't resume exercise until Monday. My general practitioner called yesterday to tell me to readjust my warfarin dose, but that happens often. I will see my gastroenterologist next week, and he'll have my blood test results. too. He identified my parathyroid problem which I hope was solved by surgery. I will tell him that I seem unreasonably tired, though. That began during a busy weekend in late September when I pushed myself to do many things. I eliminated one thing i'd hoped to do. Sometimes I think I have recovered. Then I realize that I haven't.

With leg cramps Kendall, you can all too easily fall off the throne so consider a Lapper Crapper for personal use. You might be a good candidate for our hew model with the airbag!

Hey Susan! Y'all can still call me anytime you're in town. That goes for alla y'all, too.

My back started going out in my 30s. We were camping at an event one weekend and my lower back LOCKED UP in the middle of the night. I had to get Mister to help me turn over. I like camping, and I don't mind sleeping on the ground, but we've had to make some modifications over the last few years.

We got a Sleep Number bed for home last year. I love it. Between that and yoga, I have a lot less problems with my back.

Contradicting my sunny post of Oct. 11, I now have a wobbly right knee, and sometimes when it wobbles it twists inward and hurts. It's usually good in the morning and gets progressively worse through the day. I took out my old cane and that seems to help. I avoided exercise classes for a week but today did Silver Sneakers, a class for seniors at the Y. Some exercises are done sitting down. For others, each person can choose to either sit or stand. Mostly I sat. I hope to take the class again tomorrow. I miss my other classes, particularly yoga.

Donuel, two inches sounds like progress. Hope that continues.

Me whining again. My knee is almost back to the way it should be, although I haven't resumed my more strenuous exercise classes yet.

Tomorrow I'm having a stereotactic biopsy on my right breast. I had one more than 10 years ago, so I know what to expect. I will get the results late Monday afternoon when I see my doctor. I'm hoping for the same results this time as last: not cancer. While I am only mildly distressed about tomorrow's procedure, I know that I will be very anxious waiting for the diagnosis, and I'm not thinking beyond that.

Thanks, Friends. I survived the procedure. I thought it was worse than I remembered from the last time, but I did get more local anesthesia when I asked for it. Also, I was told that since it will take 3-5 days to get the results to my doctor I should call her office before going there on Monday to make sure she has the results. If not, I will have to reschedule that appointment.
