BS: Gd thoughts for twin grandson's surgery

Tomorrow morning, the 21st, my 13-year-old grandson, Akira, will have surgery on his left leg for a growth which has been causing a lot of pain. He'll be at Yale in New Haven, Connecticut. The specialist there has said it is benign but needs to be removed to alleviate the pain. My daughter Kirsten and his identical twin brother, Elijah, will be there with him. He should be good to go home by Wednesday morning.

I haven't felt anything scary about this as he is being seen and treated by excellent medical personnel, but my daughter, understandably, is nervous and worried and I would appreciate any good thoughts, energy, etc. you might be able to send her way. The boys seem to be excited and a little nervous, but I think they'll be okay.

I am doing well and giving thanks for the perfect outworking of the situation for the highest good of all concerned.

With love and appreciation,

kat

The blessing of the tranquility of a mountain stream be with Kirsten.
The blessing of joy found in morning birdsong be with Elijah.
The blessing of the healing warmth of a summers dawn be with Akira
And the blessing of the tree, roots trunk and leaves each individual but gathered together and bound with love to make a thing of beauty.

Good thoughts, positive energy, prayers, light, love, etc., from me, too.

(Once again my 'Net connection is unreliable. Until I solve the problem I hope to remember to identify myself when I post on my cell.)

Thank you all, very much, my dear friends. So far he is doing well. The surgery should be over in another 45 minutes. Long surgery. They started at 630a Mudcat time! It's behind his knee, so I would imagine a bit tricky. It will be wrapped with a soft cast all the way up his leg. Depending on how he feels, etc. he may even be able to go home, today, but I told Kyrstie not to push it.

I'll keep you posted and thanks, again, so much,

luvyakat

Just spoke with Kirsten. He is in recovery, a little woozy, but seems to be doing well. There is some talk of him going home tonight, but I know I would feel better if they were to keep him overnight. Kirsten sounded tired and still a bit anxious as she has not spoken with the doctor yet. Elijah is in antsy and wants to go to the cafeteria, again! LOL

Apparently it's a bit complicated in the back of the knee. they had to move some nerves and other bits around. They said he may feel as though what is asleep for about a month as the nerves settle down into their new routes. After that he should feel much better and of course there is an alleviation of pain almost immediately, which is really great!

Some of you may remember a posting I made about my "A&E" on their third birthday. If anyone is interested, you may find it HERE.

Thanks, again,

luvyakat

Thanks, again, folks. I see I need to still be hyper-vigilant with the voice recog. program. That was supposed to say his FOOT may feel as though it is asleep...etc. And, Elijah is not "in" antsy, he just IS antiy.LOL

I am relieved and a little giddy...I slept well until K woke me at 430a to say they'd made it and he'd just gone in the op. room!

Katmyluv I am so sorry I missed this thread but be assured I will send whatever thoughts are needed for a complete recovery! After we talkeed awhile back it was still hard for me to see the twins as young men now. My best of course to Kirsten as well......and you need to relax some now yourself!

Lots of possitive stuff to Akira and the family. Good luck all of you and, if it has anything at all to do with me, it will all go fine!

Ah, you all are making me teary eyed. Such wonderful friends as you are such blessings. Good vibes all around. :-)

Spaw, I know what you mean, it's hard for me to think of them as young men even though my daughter tells me they are as tall as her at 5 foot seven and people tease her about them being her bodyguards. They are into men's sized clothing and she's something still like a size 6 or eight I think.LOL

She called about six o'clock Mudcat time and, oh, the resilience of youth! Akira was sitting up in bed playing video games with his brother. The IV is off, but the pain killer has not worn off from surgery yet. That's what they'll be watching tonight to see what kind of pain medication he'll need to go home. right now of course he's feeling no pain, but the doctor, of course, said he would. And they will of course treat it. I guess they had to do quite a bit of scraping around in there, but the doctor assured her that it was all benign. Phew!

Kirsten and Elijah will be staying in a hospital room just a couple of doors away from Akira and have had showers, put on their jammies, brushed their teeth and will have an early night turn in. I am glad they can stay so close by. The Ronald McDonald house is two or three blocks away which probably would have been fine, but it's just better all round for them to be right there.

Thank you all again so very much. You are very dear to me as are my grandsons and, my children, of course.

Hi, kat. I'm glad it went well.

You said, "It's hard for me to think of them as young men." Well, rightly so! They may be getting tall, but 13 is young.
